the t3 rtr is a good truck, but i think you should get a kit for your first car. it might take you a while to get everything built right, but you would know everything about your car. i think you should get THIS (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?Q=1&I=LH2184&P=1), or if you can afford it THIS (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?Q=1&I=LH2193&P=1)

i remember my first kit. my parents went with me to pick it out/ pay for it since it was a christmas/birthday present . it was a rc10 with a one of those 2 stick radios. i even remember sitting there with my dad for a few nights with him telling me that i had to put it together and he would help only if i needed him too. awesome memory for me.

I'd really prefer a RTR or one that is like 90% preasebled. Any help on modifying whatever i get like shocks, tires, pinions, etc...

if your really want rtr than the t3 rtr is a good choice. but when you get it, make sure you read over the manual atleast 1 time just so u sorta know how things go together on it...
and hop ups, you dont really need much but if you decide to race you'll want to get:
-a good stock motor (p2k pro)
-a better esc (a novak dual fusion would be good)
-bearings
-maybe a new radio system, but this isnt a must have (the 2PEKA is a cheap FM radio)
thats about it
