Peter - I was just checking this out on the ofna site, looks pretty good for RTR. If the motor is decent, Its not a bad way to get into a competition level truggy and upgrade later if cash is tight. Jumping into the kit with a good motor is 1000 plus easy.......

For a mid level racer, nice option to the Thunder Tiger st1 or other mid level RTRs!

Wow...that's hot. I'm not a fan of the stickers on the wheels...and truggies in general aren't my thing...but wow...I just might have to get one of those some day. Let's just hope to God it doesn't come with those garbage uber-cheap Futaba radios that Ofna, Tamiya, Kyosho, Duratrax, and who knows who else all use. What about the steering servo too? Pictured is an Airtronics...I assume the truck will come with the same steering servo most Ofna's come with, a relabed Futaba 3003, or is it going to be something better?

well i just ordered one of these. I hope the motor is good enough to last a few months, so i can get some money together for a nova 528 8 port.

Mine came with a 94161 airtronics servo, looks to be metal gear set-up, don't know the specs.
Yeah, it has the cheese ofna futuba radio.

well if its really a cheap radio, ill just order a new receiver to go with my xs3, and use the 3rd memory slot.

Who has got the break down on the differences in RTR and the Kit. This cant be the exact same truck because of the price. I see that the CF Servo tray in missing what else?

Im not sure about the differences but if you were to goto ofna.com you would be able to compare the two. I will say that the pro kit and the rtr kit are the same price. I have the pro kit but never seen the rtr kit. the pro kit is loaded with high quality stuff that i was just not expecting when I bought it. Its the little things that Jammin and Ofna did that really brought a smile to my face- like aluminum shoes, options on different types of linkages and ways to install the variety that they gave you, the setup options, etc. Its more than $35 to 50 bucks worth of CF.

Thanks for the info, Looking at Towers price the Kit is more expensive than the RTR so that tells me that the RTR must be a stripped down version of the kit.

they usually are. If you want to race then the kit will be better for less weight. If you are going to bash then the rtr will be stronger and come with everything you need. Im not sure how I feel about the Force .32 but my kit CRT is awesome. Im sure the RTR CRT is the same. I have owned a PCR Pro and a PCR RTR. I didnt think the difference between the two was that critical.

Thanks for the info. There is absolutely no 1/8 scale or monster truck racing around here but there are tracks I can take a little drive too. 90 miles :)

Looks really nice...I just worry about the throttle\brake servo horn....looks like an afterthought with it bolted together, but should be easily corrected:

Well, I'll bring this post back. I'm picking one up this week :D . For an RTR version its very well put together besides the radio, throttle servo and of course without all of the machined aluminum and CF parts. First thing I'm doing is swapping out the radio to my DX3. That will be it until I run some fuel through it.
Who else has one? Any updates?

I think this truck suffers from "wing envy"...otherwise a "ok" truck...personally I would go with one of the new mugen kits...

I have a RTR that i am racing, and its close to stock. I have changed out the receiver to go with my radio, then started racing. I think the most expensive part i had to change was the steer knuckles because i broke 1 in half, so i just hit up ebay for the ones from the kit. Cost about 50. I also change the center braces, and steering plate to the kit version and i can hang with most guys here.

The force engine is sweet. I have read about problems people have had, but mine still is the ****.

So, if you want to race, you need to change the following. Center braces, and steering knuckles, and receiver. Then take apart the diff and use 5,000 front, 30,000 center, 1,000 rear. Also buy a set of crime fighters, and tape the inside of the tire to stop balloning.

You might want to stock up on some Kyosho drivetrain parts. The driveshafts, diffs and outdrives all wear out rather quickly, but fortunately they copied the Kyosho to a large extent, so the parts are interchangeable.

how does this truck compare to their mutilator?

Will this ol wives tale ever cease?

Fortunately they didnt COPY the Kyosho ST-R diffs which disentigrate so fast Kyosho and LHS' have a tuff time keeping them in stock ...

CRT RTR is a far better vehicle than the mutilator ... unless you convert the mutil8r to a Tazer Suspension.

You may not like it, but the simple truth is, the Hong Nor (Jammin) buggy is almost a direct copy of the Kyosho MP7.5, and being that the truck is based on the buggy, it also shares a lot of similarities with the 7.5. There are a handful of non-critical parts that are somewhat different, but I don't see why you get so red-assed when someone states a fact about a Hong Nor or Hobao product. I've owned many examples of products from all the aforementioned companies and I guess you could say that I just prefer the original to the copy. I've been doing this for quite a long time and I've earned the right to offer what I consider to be a very experienced opinion. The company line is that there was just a bad batch of these parts, but I STILL see them getting blown out in new truck and buggy kits that are coming back to my local shop only weeks after assembly. The drivetrain stuff is no better than the day the car was released in my experience.

So the Kyosho buggy drives, fit the Jammin Truggy????????
Or is it the Kyosho STR truggy drives fit the Jammin, and were copied 6 months before STR made it to the market?

It was no secret the Jay made a buggy similar to the 7.5.
he made it very clear in the interviews, and the articles in this very magazine.
He said he looked at all the winning buggies, and wanted to improve on what they had, he said he looked a lot at the 7.5 because of it's legacy.
On his website he sells diffs that will fit both,so I don't thinks it's a hidden conspircay.

Just for fun list 5 things that bolt up to jammin buggy from a 7.5 without mods?
#1 diffs
#2?
#3?
#4?
#5?
#6?

I think a whole lot more parts fit the LSP from a 7.5 than anything else.

If all the truggies are basically the same, then isn't it safe to say the cheaper one and a good driver will win just as much as the 'high end' truggy and a good driver?
