My positive motor lead keeps coming off when I am running. Is it because my motor is overheating or because my solder job is bad. Or dirty solder?

I would say it was from overgearing the motor and/or the motor has a short. Is the motor how when this happens. It could be a bad solder joint, but I have to assume it's not.

Scuff up the solder tabs with some sand paper before tinning them, and make sure that you get a very solid, uniform melt, not just barely holding together, after you solder, let it cool, and give it a tug, if it comes off, try again, or get a stronger gun, which is an easy way out.

If you're not very good at soldering get a hotter gun. Like the guy before me said. This will cover a lot of mistakes. It heats everything quickly and melts the solder beautifully. I use a 100 watt myself and my sodler jobs aren't very pretty, but they work.

I have the original capacitor that was factory installed. Do I need to add a couple capacitors? I have a 18t pinion and a 87t\48P spur gear. This is an original (1990 or 91)RC10T truck with original parts except the motor which is a 19T. Thankx!!!!

Try using flux. You can buy a small can at radio shack. If your solder joint is "good", then it will be smooth and shiny.. if you have a "cold solder joint", the solder will look more gray and porous.
I would bet that the motor is getting too hot though.

Flux helped me out, big time! Make sure it's for electrical applications, though.
