hey guys i am getting my7 hobao hyper tq on friday and i was wondering what the speed difference between a .21 four port and a .21 eight port? oh and how could you modify a four port to keep up with an eight port?

I'm not 100% sure, but i think that you can modify the 4-Port to 8-Port by simply buying 8-Port cylinder & piston set.If you are gonna do that i would advice you to ask your LHS to make sure that it really works.
I can't really say a thing about the speed difference, since i have only ran my 8-Port engine. But judging by some videos i have seen,i'd say that the 4-Port is little bit more lazy. Not much though.
BTW,the Hyper.21 is really easy to tune, once you get hold of it.Remember to use proper fuel (Byron,Sidewinder). When i ran my 8-Port with Morgan Cool Power,i had some serious problems with tuning.Once i started to use Sidewinder,my problems were gone.

When you hang out a lot in forums that are in English, you'll soon learn a thing or two about the language.Of course we also study English in Finnish schools, but that ain't really helping when it comes to RC terms :p
About my knowledge about engines? Well,i wouldn't say that i'm that good when it comes to engines and tuning them.Temperature gauge helps alot :D

The only difference between the 4 port and the 8 port is the sleeve. They both have the same block, crank, and I think conrod. To be sure, which is faster depends where you are gonna run, on a small backyard or track, the 4-port will feel faster because it accelerates quicker, but tops out sooner, the 8-port will be faster in big parking lots, and long sweeping tracks. Out of the hole ( coming out of a corner) the 4-port will always win, just because it takes less time to spool up, but if the straight section is long enough, the 8-port will run it down. The hyper .21 is a bit finiky to tune, but once you get in the ball park, you'll be okay, just be sure to some time invest in an O.S carburetor, because the O-ring seals in the hyper carb are junk, and deteriorate way faster than other carbs, and that is what makes the hyper hard to tune, address that issue early, and you have a great engine!
