LOL....There is not a single place to Race/Bash within 100 miles of my house :( . Duratrax intellipeak? I've heard nothing but horror stories about those  . It looks like the entire Duratrax line is in the lead so far. The tribal council posts the final results on Wednesday ;) .

Don't listen to the horror stories. They only apply to NiMH, which you probably don't have and shouldn't think about getting until the proper care procedure has been figured out and their lifespan approached that of NiCads.
Back to the question: Duratrax Piranha. I used one for over a year (just got an Intellipeak Digital). It's a great charger, though you may want to think about picking up a fan, because the faceplate can get hot if you charge a couple of batteries with a break.

duratrax piranah. Might have to press charge twice for a true peak sometimes.
Just feel the battery, once it starts to warm up, it is close. What about hanging your chad  :D

don't know about the Piranha, but the Duratrax Intellipeak is the cheapest piece of crap out there. Should be called the Duratrax Falsepeak.

Has anyone ever heard of a Pro-Max Einstein peak charger. Is this the previous version of the Black Widow? If anyone has heard of this charger please let me know if it is any good, I can get one for around ten bucks, I just need it for backyard playing, nothing serious.

obi112: It sure does!! Funny thing is that if I use the dc clamps and hook it up to my truck battery, it never false peaks. But when I plug it into the wall, I always have to press the charge button twice to achieve a peak. It is probably a problem with the power supply, but it has been more than a year and I plan on getting a better charger soon. I have a fan pointing at the charger during charges to keep it cool, but I still get this problem. I know two other people with the same charger and they never have this problem. :(

Intellipeak. I got one this weekend and charged a 1800 NiCd and a 3000 NiMH and they both peaked fine. I repeak anyway.

dcommerce: There definitely has to be a problem with your charger. If you know two people who don't have problems, and all the people on this board recommending them, there must be something wrong. I wouldn't get to worried about, since your planning to get a better charger. Just hit the button again after the battery "peaks" (or not).

well me personaly i like the mini pulse and ive used it for about a week after they came out. the only problem is sometimes when the fan in the powersuply kicks in, it boggs down then i tap it and it works agian.
i charge top class batteries and race in the stock pro sedan class at my track and it doesn't affect nothin, ive never dumped and its never false peaked.
i guess i got a good one out of the batch. :D

I got a killer deal on an Integy 16x2 v2.5. It's got 6 modes including conditioning and Ni-MH maintenance for only $60. I was eyeing the 16x2Pro with the digital display, but they wanted like $40 dollars more for it and I've got a NICE Bluepoint digital multi meter that I use all the time so I stuck with the great deal.

Combones: The Piranha false peaks on you? I must have gone through st least 50 charge cycles without a false peak.
Interceptor: It seems to be a love/hate relationship with the Intellipeak. Some love them, others hate them. I personally love mine.
Throtl: Don't give up on the Intellipeak that easily. If your hobby shop has a good return policy, try one out.
