I've put T3 rims and All-T tires on my B3. I'll be running a 540 motor from an old Tamiya buggy. I need help on pinion choice. According to my notes, it currently has an 18 tooth, 48 pitch pinion. These tires are almost twice the diameter and about 4 times heavier than what the B3 came with. So what should I do with the gearing? Should I just get the biggest pinion I can find?

ps. I'll get some pics of this posted up this weekend in case anyone wants to see how ridiculous this looks ;)

Gearing question part two - will the stock gear cover allow for a large pinion? It looks to me as though a larger pinion will rub this cover. It's an RC10B3 Team Edition if that matters.

Thanks, Dave

All starting to come back now - for more torque, I'd want a smaller pinion and a larger spur, correct?

Yup start out with the smallest pinion you can find, and I would also recommend fitting an 87t spur.

i wouldn't go too low, but you are correct in your assumtion with the torque question. drop to a 14 tooth and go from there

the T3 gearing chart should help you. I have VERY tall old Imex tires on my T3 with 16/87 gearing. The internal tranny ratios for the B3 and T3 are the same..later..............torque
