Oh yea.....if you don't own a car/truck don't go and run your mouth and diss on it cuz you have no right! Well lets get crackin......does anyone know how long these 2 companys have around?

Losi All the way,
Losi has been around since around 1987. Thats when they split from AE. Yes Losi and AE where a team at one time. Ever heard of the RC10L3 Oval? The L in RC10(L)3 stands for Losi. But after a good while Losi split from AE and became independent. Losi Had a slippery start though. They were competitive but not enough. but after about 6 years, around 1995-96 Losi Came out with the XX series and from then they have been pretty good. Then with their release of the XXX series they have been unstopable. I once was a AE guy. But after trying Losi I couldn't put it down.

This is a hard question. I've owned both... but there is a problem. I've owned an RC-10 and a JRX-Pro. The RC-10 came out in 1985, and the Pro in about 1990. BIG difference. So let's break it down. The RC-10 wins for aftermarket parts. There is more parts for the RC-10 than ANY other RC car in history. So, AE wins that part. As far as performance, I can only comment on the only two cars I've owned from AE and Losi. The Pro would plainly flatout outperform the modified RC-10. But, with that, keep in mind the RC-10 was already about 6-7 years old at this point. We must, however, give Losi a win for lighting a fire under AE's arse. Without Losi, I think we'd all still be driving RC-10's that we'd have to modify with aftermarket parts.

I had so many aftermarket parts on my RC-10 by 1990, that I almost had two complete RC-10's.

Losi has certainly made a name for itself. But, so has AE. Would the RC world be different without Losi? I believe so. Would Losi be around without AE? I don't know, but I'd have to doubt it.

So, it's a toss up. My personal choice? Doesn't matter. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif I think both companies are trying to get the best technology into their kits. And both are trying to give the consumer a good deal. So, both AE and Losi are winners. Until I get to build/drive/race both a XXX and a B3, I can't answer. But, for what it's worth, this is my post. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey losi_freak......i didn't know that AE and Losi were together at one point in time. I learn new stuff every day. Its kind of a draw for me cuz AE and Losi are 2 awsome companys and are leading the way for R/Cers everywhere! Lets Keep this board clean of dissis and put downs... Looks like everyone is leaning to the Losi side, where is the loyal AE ppl? Well i now own a XXXT and the first time on the track it felt as if it hooked up to the track right away, and is more frienly to me. Well lets keep it going.

I going to go for a B3 I believe. When I go to spend my hard earned money. I'll be sure to tell you all my honest opinion on the B3FT. Since where I live isn't big on RC anymore, it'll be hard to compare against the XXX. But, I'll tell you my opinions from the few years racing I have under my belt.

Team Associated and I have good reason, I have owned a B3 for 1 year and then had the chance to drive the xxx after driveing the xxx I went to the store and bought a FT B3. It just suited my driving style better than the more laid-back style of the xxx. I now own a FT B3 and FT T3. I am glad that ae is king at american raceway I might swing by next year, I race at Pit Stop Hobbies. Is that track nice?

They're out there, I have to go with AE here. I own several kits RC10L(very old, but can beat "any" car in a race), RC10T3,RC10GT,all of them are awsome race cars. Very tough and parts are easy to find.

I have driven a Losi before, don't like it much.

Team Associated of course. I own a B3 and a old Team Car and they are great. You can't go wrong no matter which company you pick. By the way, I thought the "L" in RC10L stood for "Left" as in left turn only/batts on the left side.

I agree with NE-GO-SHE-A-TER (however you speel it) because I own now a xx4 worlds, a xxx, and a T3. I have tried both AE and Losi's trucks and buggys, and I felt that the T3 was better and the XXX was better than the B3. The XX4 kinda stands alone until AE makes a 4WD buggy based on a TC3. How cool would that be? Oh and Richie Rich, that makes sense that the L in RC10L3 would be Left Turn Only except for the touring version.

I guess I'm one of the minority here. I race Associated cars whenever I have the chance. Guess that stuck with me ever since the mid 80's when AE was the top dog.

I just recently got back into RC cars and purchased 2 R.C. team trucks and all the goodies as well as a R.C. buggy.

I'm not going to slam Losi, since I never raced with one, but I stand by AE products, you have to admit they do rock.

Having seen the overwhelming support for Losi cars here, I may pick one up and try racing with it. Any recommendations of Buggy or Truck?

I also prefer AE TC's over Losi's. I just traded my T3 away for a losi SW since I now have a XXX, but I did not so good with the SW, so somebody wanted it to hop up, and he traded me a TC3, It was much better, even awesome! So I guess you could say I prefer AE......

as far as trucks go i would have to say losi cuz there is a guy who runs a xxt at our track. it has a cracked chassis and still runs at the front even though everything is wore out on it, could be some driver issues but you have to give the truck credit too

I've had a RC10L (yes, I'm old), an AE TC3 and T3. I think that both Losi and AE cars run about the same (they are both awesome engineering marvels). I think that the availability of parts and technical support from AE puts them over the top. Just my $.02.

Associated all the way. I’ve never owned or driven anything but Associated cars. My dad built the first 1/12 scale Associates in the mid 70’s. The car still runs today! I built my first RC10 back in the day (around 1988 or so). I have that car in my room now. I’ve driven it through puddles, off 6’ high decks into 2" posts, up stairs, you name it it’s done it. This car is a serious workhorse! I’ve never broken anything (bent a few turnbuckles). I’ve used that car for years and never had to do anything to it. Three years ago I built an Associated DS. Very straight forward to build and fun to drive. This Christmas I got myself a RC12L3. It’s great!! Associated has always been the way to go. Parts have never been a problem to get, even my 1/12 scale stuff. I’ve heard some good things about Losi, but I’m an Associated man for sure!!

Both companies are good, and it all depends on the individual.

Having built and raced one of the first RC12e kits, I am going to have to side with Associated.

I still have parts from that 12e, have a few RC10's 10T's and 10L's, and even own a couple of Losi cars (for comparison only), and even though Losi builds a great car I am a long time Associated fan.

Now, if I could just go back to those days when Gene Husting and his family, Mike Reedy, Bob Novak and others used to frequent the local tracks and race side by side with us.

Did I date myself with this post?

I prefer associated and have had experience with both. The Losi SW is a nightmare compared to the TC3 (belt vs. shaft, no contest).. and for offroad I prefer AE's philosophy of migrating to a new design as opposed to ground-up redesigns everytime. Of course, the XX to XXX redesign was a bit less radical, and that's a good thing. As for driving, they are both tough and the tuner/driver is the person most responsible for success or failure, not the company. I've smoked people with both... I have even switched my T3 for another guys XXXT and smoked him with his own truck which just lost to my T3. He was good, but lost by about the same margin with either truck (which incidentally he prefered my setup to his.. but I think it was all setup, not vehicle). For hop-ups, parts and that sort of thing, AE all the way. For enthusiastic support and RC chat, Losi. That's my opinion.

No offense guys, but we all know how much (curse word) Losi stuffs into their kits. SO many probs have arisen...no bodies included with kits, screws with no threads, missing parts, etc.. Losi creates lots of lemons. Associated on the other hand has great cars. I only have heard one case where someone's car was missing a peice(me). Which was in my RC10T3Ft. Now I have an unobtanium shock shaft which is one size too small...who wants it? My car runs great although it breaks a lot when i drive. I drove it into my friends pool...hehe. I almost kicked the bucket. Well anyway, besides stupid things(i.e. driving car into friends pool) the car has never broken a single piece...only my esc(novak fusion). Otherwise...ASSOCIATED ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!! From now on I am always going to buy Associated kits(unless HPI comes out with new RS4MT2 kit or something like that) Once again...ASSOCIATED ALL THE WAY!!!

Isky was there some kind of point you were trying to make?

I really hate ppl that go on and on and bad mouth another company when they have never had a kit from that company! And this stuff about quality and missing parts is not the total truth because my friend had a FT T3 which included 2 front shock towers and no rear shock tower...and some how they never put a body in the kit also...and the chassi had all kinds of marks dents and cracks.

Im not trying to put AE down for a few "BAD" kits but my point is that there will be mistakes along the road either with AE...Losi...Kyosho..HPI and so on.

I don't want to start some kind of war over which company has better stuff and i sure don't want my posted deleted. Like i said before KEEP it Clean cuz im sure no one wants to read about a HOT HEAD trashing their favorite company or brand. Which this is a surprise to me your cuz your the first to put down another company Isky and the others that have posted have kept it clean and have said which one in their own opinion is the best.

This is a simple question...which one in your own opinion is the best! Not run a company throught the mud cuz you think brand X is the best!

Just chill with the on point remarks and name throwing ok??!! Just take a chill pill. Just one more thing, iv had AE kits before and did not like them BUT that still doesn't give me the right to trash their name get what im sayin?

I've been an associated guy since my first gold tubbed buggy. I've owned tamyia's and Losi's over the years, but somehow my pit area in my basement has nothing left of them but some spare parts... Apparently I traded them all for Associated stuff.
My reasons for my preference aren't "because that's what I own". I think the 2 company's vehicles require different driving styles, and the associated performs better with my style. I think the Losi's are great kits for those people who are starting out and want a forgiving car or truck and the natural progression of that is to stay with it throughout your career.
I think they both make excellent kits and I don't have the "Ford vs. Chevy" bias that many people do. I don't have any problem getting on the stand with the massive plethora of Losi drivers at my track. We're all there to have fun (hopefully) and whether you drive a Losi or an AE or Kyosho or whatever, that's what it should all boil down too. Just my .02¢

My Tc3 is great and i have broken NO parts and have been racing it for over a year. I have never owned a losi so i'm not gonna bad-mouth 'em but you do see many more TC3s at my track than losis maybe this will change with their new car?
Also, Losi probably does this as well but Associated does stick with your and replace "lemon" parts and such, and you can tell they're try'n to work with you like how when they "re-tooled" the front A-arms they sent them out to everyone who sent in they're old ones.

I say losi rules! I've had a RC10Lss,T3 and a Rc10l2. I liked the 10lss and 10l2 but the t3 sucked. I had to get stronger ballcups just to keep them from popping off. Since then I had a XXCR and a XXX. I sold my XXX to get a XX4. I think losi makes the best 4 wheel drive buggy on the market. Even though you have to take off a lot of screws to get to the drive train to clean it. I'd rather take out a lot of screws some of the time than less screws most of the time.I also want to say that I raced a guy who had a b3 and my XXcr just ran him into the ground. It turned faster and held it's line better than his b3. He even drove my car and said that he was going to sell his b3 to get a XXCR.Losi just drives better and it's easy to set up.I can't wait to see losi's new TC which is due out in june

You say your xxcr ran someone's B3 into the ground? An RC10 could do the same to a fully hopped up TC3...how? Different motors...the least you could do is support your claims. My T3 could out run a Kyosho 7.5 1/8 buggy any day...how? If i was running my 10x2 and the kyosho buggy a .15 engine...well, you get the idea. Support your claims...have some dignity.

Hey Isky you should take your own advice due to that last post you made WHY you think Losi **** which you couldn't back up that every Losi kit had problems. Like i said before there will be problems in a small percent of the kits made..AE, Losi, HPI, MRC, Kyosho have had problems with a small amount. No ones perfect are they http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

KEEP it Clean PPL! No bad mouthing other companys due to what you think they are and the quality of the kit.

This post was ment to see how many ppl went for Losi or AE and why they are going for the company...and to keep it clean.

The reason there was not Losi, AE, HPI and so on is because im only interested in what ppl go for...Losi or AE.

Well heres my vote and i know the fellow XXX'ers and XXXT'ers and older kits love their trucks and buggies and in their opinion they are the best in their eyes.......so GO TEAM LOSI! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
