How many runs are on that motor? You probably need the comm cut.

Check to see if you have a hung up brush, or make sure that the Shunt has not come un soldered.
it is easy to check if it is hung, pull on the shunt, and let it go, the spring should snap it back to the comm.
Check for driveline binding, take the pinion off, and manually spin the tranny.

try cleaning it with some motor spray.

Ok, you said you cleaned the motor with spray, look inside it and see if the comm is a dark color, if it is, go get yourself a "comm stick" at the lhs, they should know what you need. Also, make sure to clean off any carbon deposits on the brushes themselves (comm stick has a round end for this, and a square end to push in the brush hood to clean the comm). Spray some motor spray on the brushes and clean them off, the re-oil the motor bushings and see how it runs. As far as getting the comm cut is concerned; don't worry about it unless you REALLY damaged the comm, a lot of people weren't into RC back when stock motors werent allowed to be opened, etc and don't realize how well you can maintain a stock motor without a lathe :) (no offense guys) But if someone you know has one and you want them to try cutting it, it will help some.

Take a look at the brushes wear they contact the commutator. If they look blue or purplish than they are burned. You need to get new brushes.

its most likly the brushes if they have a dark discoloration its that because when some type of connector it being wire brushes whatever if it gets burnt it loses its conductivity so try new brushes

Do not discount the fact that you may have a problem elsewhere on the car, not just a motor problem, take the motor out and just check the drive is free.

i took the motor out and then spun the tires and they spin freely along w/the spur gear. so it has to be the motor. but everything on the motor looks good
