Peak press release
GP Batteries has once again proven its dedication to advancing battery technology by producing a cell with unprecedented on track performance. The all-new GP3700SP2, in conjunction with Peak Racings PowerFlo voltage enhancement process and cell testing regime, results in a battery pack with the following features:
Lowest IR for maximum punch
Highest voltage for maximum top speed.
Increased run times
Accurate test data printed on each cell
Highest cycle life
IFMAR/EFRA/BRCA/JMRCA/FEMCA/DMC approved
Meets ROAR dimension requirements and specifications for 2006

SP2? Sheesh, even battery manufacturers are realeasing service packs now. I'm geussing old unit's aren't upgradable, they'll have to be replaced.
Computer humor....seriously though, those numbers look.....wow.

Impressive numbers and decent reports back on them so far...but just remember....you cannot compare numbers from one matcher vs. another...test parameters and equipment all introduce variations in the numbers you see on the label.
Thenumbers usually ARE a good indicator when comparing cells from the same matcher though...
These cells seem to be GP's answer to the IB3800...there has been a pretty heated battle going on other forums as to which cell is superior...it's just niec to see GP back in the game...GP and IB pushing each other for market share will be good for the racer....throw IP in the mix now and youhave a situation where the cell chemistry will end up optimized across all the cell platforms, and there's potential to see a price war...more performance for less $$ is an equation that normally catches the racer's eyes

This is the exact same cell at the Orion one. I know Peak is a sister company to Orion, but why release the same cell with different brand name?

^^^ Most likely extra publicity; more sales!
As for the batteries themselves, the numbers ARE impressive! I'm guessing they're not exactly cheap...?

Windsor, yeah, Integy used to advertise their 3300's at 1.23 volts lol

Yeah but those are 20 amp numbers. Integy does not match by industry standards. To there defense either does orion.

But even comparing it with the older orion packs I am sure these packs are going to be very fast. I have a few packs of 1.180 packs from Peak and Orion and they are already very good batteries. I could just imagine how insane these packs would be!

Team Orion has been selling matched batteries for 20 years, Peak longer. One could argue their methods are the standard. Of course using the standard method (which anyone can buy) would make them like any other garage battery company.

GP is a few steps behind as IB just announced the 4200! Can't wait to see the numbers on thoose to compare.

Rick-- That was not ment to be a bash but you guys are still using Lavco system right? I would say the same thing about Novak. My point is not to say these are not real numbers for your system but when trying to compare you to trinity or to promatch or any other small or large company you cannot compare numbers as the different systems will inhearently come up with different numbers. Even the garage guys who use the "standard" T35 matchers have a hard time coming up with the same numbers on the lables from others who use the same system. Orion produces great batteries but you cannot compare numbers from one company to the next. I hope you would agree with that. These new generation of GP3700 cells are producing some silly numbers from all matchers and that will be great for the racers to have more power! Keep up the good work in bringing innovative products to the market! It is fun to see all the new technology come into the industry and a lot of it is the same price as what came before it!

I know it was not a bash. I just want to make people aware that using the the "standard", in many cases, is done because there is no other choice. We have been using a modified TM based system for the last couple of years.
I agree you can't compare numbers from one company to the next very easily.

I wouldn't hold my breath until some get into the hands of matchers. Remember when the Sanyo 3600 came out, it turned out to be a dog!

This is from SMC on another site
Based on the samples we have gotten the specs will be 430+ , 1.20+ with IR of 1.7-2.0 @ 35 amps.

LOL, I loved how sanyo was bragging about more runtime and voltage, both of which were lower than 3300's. The IR was also really high.
