I want to put in a banked concrete oval. I would like to know some specifics such as rebar or mesh, thickness of concrete, sources for track lay outs, i would like a mini bristol. Approximate costs, etc. Any information would be greatly helpful. If i can do this for about 2000 i would be happy, is that unrealistic?

Also any do's / donts from local hobby shops / people that have them? I have nothing close and am tired of it...!!!

I'm in michigan so frost is an issue too

I doubt if you could do it for 2K... materials alone would probably run way over that unless you're talking about something for 1/18th scale. This place has a concrete trioval... they might be able to give you some info: http://www.hobbystop.com/

Concrete is EXPENSIVE. We just did our driveway (and are good friends with the concrete guy) and you will be short with 2 grand, unless it was small and for 1/18 scale. Are you thinking scale Nascar here or what are you going for??

thanks for the info.... i'm just gonna go with a hard packed clay oval instead, i was looking to get rid of the track maintence issue, but a little labor is worth saving alot of cash.

Hard packed clay would work fine... as long as you are not running onroads. (Or you would need to have it buttery smmooth and get different tires). The nice things is that you can keep it a tad moist for that "sticky" kind of traction or you can let it dry out a bit and it would drive like a scale late model track...

thats actually exactly what i'm looking for freeride, i just cant seem to find too much info on track prep methods/ building methods, i have a tractor with a blade on it, but it doesnt "tilt" like a grader so as to add bank while driving around the track, the bank would have to made the hard way

thanks

Hmmm... the only thing I can say is to make sure you have some sort of a roller to pack it down really hard...
