Has anyone mixed fasglitter directly with faskolor paint instead of faskot? The faskot is hard to spray with my air brush and compressor (fixed psi hobby compressor). What are some good color combos? Can you mix fasred with blue glitter? I would suspect the translucents or metalics would work best.

Thanks,

It wont work, at least not well. The reason is because the glitter will mix into the paint and won't neccesarily be sprayed against the lexan, it will be buried within the paint.

I agree with what the stranger said. (Woo Hoo, HM is back!)

I spray clear first and while wet, I sprinkle the glitter on then back with my colors.

It may work to mix the two if you are using a transparent paint. Rarely do I put down the glitter first then paint over it. I will typically paint a transparent color then spray glitter behind it. This gives the paint a sparkle without the whole bassboat look.

I haven't mixed the two before, so don't get upset if it doesn't work...but it might ;)

I agree with Leadfoot, I don't really like the bassboat look. A really glittery (is glittery a word?) metallic would be nice. Time to get out some two liter coke bottles and start spraying.

I have mixed red glitter with blue Fascolor and it does show a little but not as good as mixing the Fasglitter with the Fascoat and then spraying your color after the glitter coat dries. Also, the glitter seemed to stay suspended in the paint longer than the Fascoat, but like I said, it didn't show any better.
I Did a body that I sprayed Red Fasglitter then backed it with black and the color turned out to look like a very deep Black Cherry color!

new product ALERT!

Krylon now sells glitter in a spray can. I have 2 cans, but haven't tried it yet. It is supended in something similar to krystal clear. I don't think it will have any problems flexing. If it works it will be MUCH easier to use than fasglitter.

Thanks Lead, for the heads up on the Krylon. I agree, if it works like we hope it would be a lot easier to use and prolly cheaper too. What size can does it come in?

HM has been here all year, he just chooses to associate with the secret society.

When I use the fasglitter I mix it with the Fascoat. It dries clear, then you can put color behind it.

don't what???

If you read all the posts, we were trying to look for another alternative to using faskoat. If you use faskoat enough you will learn that after it hardens water based paints will tend to not sick to it and will pull up and peel....which sucks

Oops, I meant Don't mix fasglitter with paint. The glitter will barely be seen.

I use Spaz Stix behind the glitter-suspended-in-Fascoat. That way no peeling etc. I know Spaz Stix may or may not be an option for some because of the fumes. That is just one solution.

The Red glitter and Black base is Too Cool! It looks very good. imho Any of the colors of glitter are good with a black backing except the silver.

Krylon (sp) does look good, a guy I know did a nice green slimed body with it I believe. It turned out great. I really do not know how flexible it is when it dries though.
