Hey I am thinking about putting a Traxxas ESC(the one that can handle 14.4v)in my T3. I have a Integy(pretty much the same as the D4) 13T double. My brother said that it would be hard on my motor? He said I would have to get new brushes and get the Comm cut every 4 times I drive it. I don't know if it will work anyway because it says it is good for 2 motors. Well, can I hook it up to just one motor.
My other question is that say I want the two batterys but not the 14.4v's. Could I or some electric guru take apart the ESC rewire the baattery wires inside the ESC Case to make it only 7.2v but lots more run time?

Well, #1, anytime you increase power to the motor/increase rpm, you're going to increase wear... that's normal. I'm not even sure if that motor can handle that in a vehicle as heavy as a truck, but hey, i've never tried it! :)
Ok, for question #2, you just need to know a little bit about how electronics work. You can run batteries in series or in parallel. If you run them in series, the voltage is accumulative... ie. 6cells * 1.2V = 7.2V, meaning your standard pack is wired in series.
.... what makes them in series? simply wiring them end to end :)
Now, to make them in parallel, you would normally connnect all the possitives on one single line and all the negatives on another. This maintains the voltage but you will increase your mAh (milli amp-hours ... basically how much juice is in your battery). the more mah, the longer the battery life.... that's where your 1700mah, 2000mah, etc comes from.
So... how to apply this to your question:
To make a 14.4v battery, take two 6-cell battery packs and wire them such that the positive of one pack and the negative of the other pack goes to your esc. Your other two wires from the packs will simply be connected to each other... this would be VERY easy if you have litespeed connectors! :)
To make an extra long life 7.2V pack, you would have to do a little soldering... Basically you will need to tie the two positive lines together and the two negative lines together (puting both packs in parallel). You would then simply connect to the esc like you always do :)
I hope this helps, let me know if ya have ne-more questions :)
