Looking at getting back in. I like touring, and I had a TC3 and a TRF 414. Looking at getting a TRF 415 refine. I like to run stock class. What are the new, good stock motors? I would also like to find a Lnyx 3d radio like I had with the no crystal set up and novak receiver. Also, I used to run 2400s for bats. What the new stuff? Looks like the nimh are around 3700 now? Wow! I'm about 3 years out of it, so catch me up!

Well, motors really haven't changed much at all since you raced last, the Monster stocks are pretty much still king(the big thing is finding a tuner you can count on if you don't like to tune so much yourself). Now about the radio, no, I don't think the Lynx 3D is made anymore, but there are still plenty of choices, including one that NEVER needs crystals or figuring out what frequency to use, & that's the DX3 by Spektrum. It's based on JR Racing's XS3 radio, but also has the Spektrum DSS system built into it, which runs on the 2.4 GHz frequency band & the radio & receiver actually automatically find each other when you turn them on(all completely automatic, & once it's setup properly, it works flawlessly, I have a Spektrum module in my KO Mars & it's one of the best add-on's I've ever bought, just turn it on & go). And for batteries, right now it looks like the Intellect IB3800 cells are the hot thing for high voltage & low resistance(which is exactly what stocks need most) & there are plenty of good soiurces of those(I'm currently leaning toward DC Motorsports{try www.dcmotorsports.net **, got some excellent cells there) & if you're wanting to go on the cheap, there's also a 3600mah cell that I got from cheapbatterypacks.com that I really like too(I think the manufacturer of them is a company called Elite, they sent me a pack of them to test & it's running neck & neck with the best packs I have), so you might check those out too....

Right now the IB3800 is pretty much the king or cells, their voltage was 1.18 now they are at 1.20 (35amp), IR 1.6 to 1.9. For good life you should also invest in something for discharging (lightbulbs) and equalizing them. That is discharge the pack on an equalizing tray before you charge it the next time.
There are a number of equalizing trays, Integy as 3 versions the Octane2 is the cheaper version but works well while their Zero 30 can discharge a fully charged pack (needs a power supply), Trinity, Novak, Tekin, LRP and other companies have versions out. There is also talk that they may reintroduce the IB3600 which according to some has shown some improvements over the first batches voltage has improved along with IR - the thing that will make it ideal is for stock racing - both because of better voltage but also because it will be cheaper than the IB3800.
A majority of motors should be able to work but ideally the racers where you will be racing will have a better clue of what motor is best. You'll also be able to get better information of what motor to buy - but track may have a good supply on hand and you will better information on gearing or rollout (that's what is normally quoted).
Normally I buy my packs from RC4Less (their are more oval orientated) and other specialized sites as I more prone to get exactly what I ordered in terms of numbers. With Tower you are likely to get something that been on the shelves and not always what they advertised. I use mostly the SMC Cells but others have worked fine as price plus numbers was an issue.

Hey Tadium. Whats up man.
When I left, the XXXs had just came out. THe TC3s were kicking the dog snot out of everything else on the local track. I expect I will have the only TRF there (which aside from parts, is how I like it). Looks like the XXXs isn't even made anymore.
I figure I'll get the chassis build, then get parts over the winter to finish it out, and get my support gear replaced (and pay the credit card off). Come spring, it should be ready to rock.
