The Car - Team Losi XXX
I've had this car since 2-2001. So far I've broken an A-Arm (my fault) killed a thrust bearing, broken the rear pivot block (my fault again), wasted 2 idler gears, and have wasted 2 R hub bearings.
Have hundreds of packs thru this car. Been thru 3 arms on the motor, and totally wasted the stock tires. Wore em right off the rims. The XXX has come back for more everytime. The bearings can be a problem, especially the outdrive bearings. I suggest making paper inserts to keep dirt out. The rear hub bearings also take a major beating. Clean them very often. Suspension has worked flawlessly. Steering, flawless. Tranny... again, outdrives have been the weak link. Once the seals expand and pop out, dirt gets PACKED in the tranny, tearing up all and any gears it can. If the car ever get's noisy - stop! and check your tranny. After my "temp" fix, the outdrives have been sealed perfectly.
Losi Customer Service - B- They did ok in getting me the parts they forgot to include in my kit. But, it took them over a month to get me the parts NEEDED to drive the car. Luckily I had a couple spare parts to make the car work. (ie one axle, and a couple hinge pins). At least I got my parts, but I still can't be 100% happy with the service I got.
Would I buy the next Losi kit? - Not the XXXKE, but if the "X4" or "XXX+1" or "X1 - a new begining" comes out in 2002, I'd probably buy it. I've been a Losi fan since 1991, when the JRX-Pro took me and my Futaba Jr to many victory dances, and **** . So, yeah, I'd buy the next kit.
