Hey guys. Today I checked out a new LHS in my area(actually, the only one right now). I picked up an RC Screwz kit for the maxx, some RPM bulkhead braces, HCR titanium hingepins, proline titanium turnbuckes, 2 packs of RPM hubs for about $240 cdn. then tonight I went to locally pick up some stuff I got from a guy on ebay- milenium charger, a lot of mod motors, 2 full sets of touring car tires, 2 bodies for the maxx, a set of stock wheels and tires, a set of proline road rage tires on what appear to be outback rims, a full set of cvds by rd logics for 125 bucks cdn!
now all i need is the bulkheads I'm ordering from the LHS, a set of RPM arms and a set of RPM shock towers and I should be set for a long time.
Just thought Id share my score

Although Ebay is a cheap source for R/C stuff, you should shop at your LHS more, because if the LHS's go bankrupt, then the hobby will slowly crumble. I have spent over $2,000 easy on things from my trucks to trains at my LHS. Also try not to shop at Hobby Town, they are a major force and they get all the buisness they need on things that aren't R/C (Sorry HB guys). BTW, Strongsville Hobby REPRESENT!!!! Gimmy a holla for all yall SHers out there! haha just kidding :D

to reply about lhs going bankrupt, if they didnt jack their prices up SOOOOOO high then that wouldnt be a prob, ex. if my lhs didnt have their mini ts at 170 i would buy one for my little brother, or if their lst's were less than $675 i would buy one from them, not ebay or internet.

See... my LHS will match prices from tower so it works out all the better for me. My revo was actually cheaper than on tower.

Freeride- I live in Canada and the LHS I bought from buys from tower, converts the price and pretty much just sells it. apparently they do pretty good bussiness

My local shop jacks the prices up some, but no none are higher than $15-$20 over what Tower has (and thats on the expensive RTR's). Smaller things are within a few $$ of Tower...

figure what you pay from places like tower and then add in shipping, then decide if it is worth the extra few dolloars to shop the LHS, not to mention the "Instant Gratification".

Exactly...some days I would gladly pay a couple extra $$ to have it immediately, not in a week :)

Living in the country, as far from the city as practical (I commute 70 miles one way for work), means there is no local hobby shop. Plus Tower sends me a code about once a month for free standard shipping on any order over $50... so shipping costs are a non-issue, and tax savings add up slowly. I do wish they would dump UPS and go FedEx, as UPS truly sucks in my area... they have lost too many packages for me to feel comfortable with them.
Still, there are times that I have driven 5 miles (City HS is 2.5 miles off the freeway I travel to/from work) out of my way to stop in and pick up a few things that I find on sale or clearance-priced older stuff. :D
