Ok, dumb question. How do you avoid burning up motors after running them for 8-15 minutes straight?!?! I run a P2K stock motor and 1400-1700 batteries, and I have plenty of power left after running a 4 minute main, but my motor gets pretty hot.
Maybe you guys have tons of motors and can afford to burn one every week, hehe =P j/k

Team Losi XXcr KE,2400 packs (matched),novak fusion and a paradox pro and p2k. I have it geared for more speed than accel and get about 8-10 min. Alyien gear your motor down a bit. My motors get hot but dont burn up. I just switch between motors after every run. I have never burnt up a motor. My gearin is a 22 tooth 48 pitch pinion and a 82 tooth spur gear.

Is it true that if you gear the car correctly that the motor won't overheat ?

Of course! Also make sure air can flow around your motor too, and get a heat sink!

Let me think. Tamiya TL01 almost fully optioned. 23 tooth pinion and speed tuned gears. 13x2 Chrome Touring modified. Dynamite Power Pulse ESC. Radio Shack 2200mah battery. I get around 6-7 minute run times with it. Motor doesnt get really hot but the ESC and battery do. The motor might get warmer when I hard wire the motor to the ESC and install better battery connectors.
My Rustler used to get 20 minutes with a 2000 and an ESC with the stock motor. That hust estimating.
I dont really judge how long my batteries last while in my car. I use a 20A discharger and time it. Last time I had it going, it was a little over 7 minutes.
