Just was wondering which lathe to get? Trinity tru-lathe 2 or 3 or maybe a cobra? What do I need for both in terms of drive motors and bits? Approximate cost for either and where to buy? Any input would be appreciated.
P.S. Should I look at used and if so where to buy used?

I say go with the cobra. I just got mine yesterday and I like it alot. All you need is a drive motor and a 4 cell pack. I suggest you buy this one because it is nearly $30 cheaper than the trinity ones. The cobra lathe I'm talking about is the 2000 pro comm lathe.

I think the Tru 3 and Cobra, they are both doing the same job, so why you pay more. Get the Cobra 2000. It works fine for me.

I forgot to ask if the lathe will do both modified and stock motors. Trinity's spec on tower only mentions modifieds. I'm assuming they both(cobra and trinity) will do both. But I don't want to *** /u/me!!

The lathe will only do modified and rebuidable stock motors, if you want to do stock motor (non rebuildable, means you can not take the armature out from the motor can) then you need to buy a conversion kit for it. And I don't think the Tru 3 has a conversion kit.

Yes both lathes will do both stock and modified. The conversion kit is kind of expensive though if your doing non rebiuldable stock motors.

Thanks for the info. I will only be doing p2k and the such, no non-rebuildable motors. Shaweet!! :D

or if u have the "non rebuildable type" u can smack it on a table so the endball pops off, and WHAALA its rebuildable!
