I would like to get a cheap peak charger to replace my timed hobbico 910. Which is better? Do not tell me millenium, or rhino, I don't want that, I don't need it. I'm only bashing in the street.

I owned Piranha, It was pretty good peak charger. I am sure DuraTrax make good chargers. But one thing you have to beware of is if you are going to charge more than one pack at a time, then you'll need a fan to cool it down. I am pretty sure you have to do so on the Super Brain too. Other than that Piranha is still a very good charger.

Definitely a Piranha. I have been using one for over a year now and I love it. Just plug the battery in, hit a button, and then come back about 30 minutes later (depends on battery capacity). cck is right about the fan. The metal top of the charger can easily burn you after a pack or two. If you can, pick up a computer fan and hook it up to an older battery pack (or better yet, a 12 volt DC source if you have it available) and have it pull air off the charger.

I have a fan hooked up to a 12V gel cell and could hold my hand on the charger after four packs straight.

How much? I'm not gonna spend more than 50-60.

The Vision is around $45 from Horizon, $10 more than the Piranha. The only advantage is four lights that give how filled the battery is. If you want to spend more than the Piranha's $35, you just just get the low-end Intellipeak ($55), which will give you Ni-MH capability.

I don't plan on using NiMH. This summer is probably the last summer I'm gonna be "playing" with RC cars.

OK, thanks everyone. I have some spare fans so cooling shouldn't be a problem.

If this is your last summer, why buy a new charger now? I assume you already have one, so why not use that?

I have had a superbrainfor over 5 years and it has only falsed peaked 2 and it was when I was playing around. I have heard of the duratrax false peaking on quite a few of the other topics in the past like this.
