ok guys hes the deal ..... i recently enquired abot a ready 2 run cat with modded G260 engine from a well known company in the USA...the thing is, he give me a price for the rtr cat with shipping, which i thought he had made a mistake ...so i emailed them back and he said that he hadnt add $100.00 for testing the boat for leaks and $65 for dollars for prop.....i think if you gonna buy RTR boat it should already be tested for leaks, hence ready to run....is this company trying to squeeze me for more money or is it natural for companys to charge you $100.00 dollars extra for testing for leaks....

I think that is a load of BS!!! RTR means RTR, not (plus extra charges)! I think you are getting yanked!

Run the other way with your money and move on RTR means RTR anyone that charges for a leak test must make a real crappy boat. And 65 for a prop seems a bit high unless it is a three blade polished and balanced.

I myself am leary of back in charges. Kinda smells like a raw deal when someone tries to tack in fee's at the back end. Why not just advertise the price and be done with it.

As for the prop, well that price is not bad depending on what prop, and if its sharpend, balanced right, and polished. You can spend over a 100.00 for a prop for a gasser thats of high quality & well done.

Test the boat for leaks, put in in your bathtub. If they put the thing together right, it shouldn't have any problems. Seeing how it's a Gas boat you shouldn't have any major problems with dialing it in. Save the C-note. Find an experienced boater near you that would be happy to help you out for free if you have any issues that you can't handle.

just going for the modded ZENOAH G260 with modded 257 carb...theres some nice QD kits going about on jims rcboats... i think i will stick with the modded G260...like they say ....ZENOAHS dont need much attention to them ,put in gas and its rock n roll... http://p086.ezboard.com/fjimsrcboatdockfrm11.showMessage?topicID=573.topic :D :D :D

Not sure if a modded 257 will make that much difference on a 260. I know they can on a quickdraw due to the much larger intake area in the cylinder. Not sure about the zen though, havnt seen any dyno proof of it. I have heard results that anything bigger than 1/2 inch dont work very good. also if the carb is bored it slows the rate of fuel flow at low rpm due to reduced intake speed. Do some home work on it first, if theres no differnece then its more easy to replace. Whos moded engine you goin for. :) One thing to note, a quickdraw with a modded 257, have no probs so long as its the new 4 bearing one all the probs have been sorted, its only when you start messing with the wyk33 carb and fuel pumps, flywheel etc that you need to keep ontop of them. Quickdraws like a smaller prop so they can rev better, which may be better for a dragcat. If you want to hit the magic 60 then thats the way i would go.

theres no problem with the magic 60...the DRAGCAT with standard ZENOAH G260 hits 62 mph on the ppb racing website, and with the modded ZENOAH G260 speeds of 78 mph and then its the new QD 25 4 bearing rear pipe thats doing 82 mph....i settle with the modded ZENOAH...them speeds are scarey...cc racing for the modded engine and carb... ;) ;) ;)

its all good looking at figures but when you consider the record for cats is 77mph makes you question some of it dont you think, if thats the case why dont they all hold the record. In saying that they are only 36 inches long, you just need other cats to race against now. :)

yeah i know what you mean m8...you carnt always go by the speeds that boat manufactures say,but i feel that i know that this boat will be in the mid 2 top 60s....if you read the threads on jims rc dock there is a couple of guys on there getting speeds of over 70 mph...like you said in the post early that the only thing is i get the weather for it....im gonna ask your son (anthony) to do me some custom graphics for the dragcat in the new year.... ;) ;)

Since when does a RTR boat come with no prop? $65.00 is close to the going rate for a balanced and polished prop so if you go that route, make sure that's what you're getting, not an off-the-shelf one.
