The annual NAMBA-sanctioned speed trials were held in Los Angeles last weekend, and here in mph are the new records which were set:

Limited Sport Offshore(700 motor, 12 cells) - 33.25 - Brian Buaas
OPC (12-cell outboard tunnel) - 50.279 - Pat McDonald
Q Mono (18 cells) - 59.76 - Brian Buaas
O Sport Hydro (8 cells) - 64.86 - Brian Buaas
P Sport Hydro (12 cells) - 76.55 - Brian Buass
Q Sport Hydro (18 cells) - 80.78 - Brian Buass
Q Hydro (18 cell rigger) - 111.05 - Tim Higdon
S Hydro (24 cell rigger) - 114.38 - Tim Higdon

These speeds represent the average of two consecutive passes through a 330-foot trap. The highest recorded speed for the weekend was one pass over 119 mph. All used brushless motors and ESCs along with NiMH cells, except for the Limited Sport Offshore boat, which used a 700-type brushed motor in a mono. While there was a lot of action and the thrill of true speed, there is also a cost to SAW running. In addition to some burned up equipment, at least four boats were sunk!

If you live in the LA area and love high speed boats, you need to attend next year's event in early November. You don't have to race (although that is cool to do) - just to see the 100+ mph boats running and to talk to the racers is worth the trip. :D  :D

Jay thanks for posting the results here.
Brian set the bar pretty high in Limited Sport Offshore.
Did anyone else run LSO?

Steven, I wasn't there so I don't know if anyone else ran LSO, but I do not think so. That is pretty darn fast - the fastest LSH boats in our club are only a couple mph faster in oval trim.....
