ive been running stadium trucks on my track and i was wondering how they compare to 4wd elec buggies, does the 4wd drive train kill the run time?
thanks

assuming you have equal equipment, since there is more going on in the 4wd drivetrain, yes, run times would probably be slightly less. i don't think it would be a huge diffrence though.

I agree, 4wd run-times would be less assuming equal equiptment, surface and driving style.
However, I think with the newest generations of 3,800 Nihms, making run-time for a race is no longer a problem. Even with my 12th scale running at full race pace with the highest gearing I can handle on the track, making 8 minutes is easy. In fact I still have almost 1,300 Mah left over.

Even though a 4wd vehicle would have the addition of an extra tranny so to speak it no more power robbing than a two wheel drive vehicle - in some instances it's easier to drive. You achieve runtime for rc racing by gearing, so a 4wd would be geared differently than 2wd running the same type motor and battery.
When batteries were on 1200Mah race lengths were 3mins, in stock or modified racing if gearing was off both types of vehicles had a tendancy to dump as we began using motors with more power.

good point, the track i run on is real loose, so its hard to keep the tires from spinning, therefores less going ahead, wasted power.....
now another question.... shaft vs belt, whats better? in my opinion its shaft hands down.... but what do i know?
