Hi everyone, some may remember me from the now defunct Ehobbies board. I have been reading some old posts lately and wanted to ask a question. I'm in the process of choosing a comm lathe and can't decide between the Hudy and Trinity's new one. The Trinity lathe doesn't come with a motor, but does come with a carbide bit. The Hudy comes with a drive motor but no bit. I want to wait to get a diamond bit till I get the hang of the lathe and cutting comms. I can't see spending another $80 now. I don't care about the drive motor that comes in the hudy sense I already have a closed endbell motor from an old car.
Anyway, here's my problem... I can't find any information on the net about the Trinity lathe. It sounds like what I'm looking for, but I haven't even seen one. The online store that I buy from doesn't have a picture except one that shows the lathe in the case. Hudy's site shows the lathe and everything really clear. My lhs doesn't carry any lathes at all. The local guys don't own one either. A couple have old stuff. If anyone has tried either of these lathes please let me know some info on them. If anyone knows a site with some info please post.

Howie... I remember you as the electric guru from past boards. Can you help me?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all. I'll post some more info about me in a later post.

Happy Maxxin!

I have searched a lot of webs about the Tru Lathe 3, but had no fortune, the only where I saw was this page http://www.rccaration.com/articles/dialin_stock.asp hope this little information can help you a little bit.
I personally have the Cobra Comm Lathe 2000, which is pretty good. Only costs me $110 from Tower. Before I decided buying Comm2000 I had been searching Tru Lathe 3, Hudy's, Orion's and etc.
I hope I did not affect your decision on buying any of those. Good Luck.

Emaxx3,
I just bought the cobra lathe yesterday and cut my comm with it and I love it. I suggest it highly. I was going to buy the trinity lathe but It was too much. I needed to save money because I was buying other things at the time. You dont need a diamond bit the carbide bit is fine. It just doesnt last as long as the diamond bit. The cobra lathe is only $119 from tower. Hope this helps.
