Can anyone give me an idea on which rubber tires would be best to run on a short track or just a good tire to use on any track?

I found that the stock TC4 tires, also the stock TC3 nitro RTR tires( they're the same) work really well for carpet and some asphalt. And they're cheap. You can get the tires wheels and inserts all mounted from Tower for about $22. Not bad. And they last for a while too. That's just my opinion though. You might want to talk to other racers before purchasing new ones. Good luck!

I agree, go check out what locals are running on the track. The hobby shop should also probably have good tires in stock. I find that they'll always stock whatever hooks up best on their own track, because thats what people buy.

Take Off CS27's are dialed on pretty much every surface. Asphalt, Ozite, or whatever else your running on.

I ran CS-22's and CS-27's on my ozite track, and the 22's have to much traction(can be fast with right set-up though) and the 27's are really fast.

It depends on what type of racing or vehicle you are using. While everyone mentioned touring car compounds, there is also pan car which are another thing. Ozite tends to vary a bit and no two tracks are exactly the same, it may take one compound of tire when new and a completely different compound or combination as it wears in.
So if you can information on type of vehicle and rough idea of how long the ozite has been down and also what is the inside temperature like. Traction can also change a bit during hot and cold weather.

One prob with the pan cars though (I race one, I would know ;) ) is that all pan car tires (at least race legal ones ROAR, IFMAR, etc.) are made from foam. Were talking about rubber here (sedan tires). Its a little bit different. Ideally you'd go with foam, but some types of rubber hook up well, and can be more cost efficient. Like I said before, I'd just ask the guys are your specific track what the hot setup is. Keep in mind that conditions can change with temperature as well, especially on carpet. On carpet its often reverse of what you might normally think. As temperatures get COLDER, traction actually goes up. (Ever wonder why the AC is always cranked way up at big races? Thats why) When things warm up, especially when it is humid, traction goes down.

CS-27. It's basically the starting point for asphalt and carpet. Can't go wrong with that tire.
They're made by Take-Off, a quality Japanese made tire. SpeedTech carries them.
