Whats up every one. I am new to the R/C world. I need help with picking a on road car. Whats the difference between gas and nitro? What is a good car for me start out with that I can upgrade later when I am ready, and where I can purchase one that is not too expensive. I live in the bay area so if any of you guys live around here let me know of a good place to buy or a good online source. Also what are good brands to buy for upgrades. Thanks for looking out and hope to see some of you guys out on the tracks. :D

There is no difference between gas and nitro. There are gas (or nitro) cars, and then there are electric. Which type of car are you looking to buy? Gas or electric?

a good car would be a NTC3 rtr from Team Associated. I have had good experiences with Team Associated. Here's a link just to show you what it comes with:

Many people, myself included, are divided on our thoughts about rtrs (Ready-to-Run if you didn't know). On one hand they are good in that they get more casual users into RC and are cheaper than buying all the compenents themselves. Plus, after you break in the engine you're ready to go.
But on the other hand since the car comes prebuilt, some people that buy RTRs have trouble fixing parts or adding parts since they didn't put the car together.
If you have the money I would suggest buying a kit. The knowledge you will gain from building the car yourself will be very valuable when it comes to fixing any parts, if they break, and adding on the upgrades if you choose to purchase some.

Where to buy? Towerhobbies or your local hobby shop.

nitro is what 99 percent of people run. some people run gas cars, but the engines are usually quite diffrent and they are fewer manufaters(eg FG, etc). that being said, the NTC3 is probably your best bet

I think I will go with the NTC3. Me just starting out, that sounds like the most logical thing to do coming from you guys. I would like to thank all of you for your advice and I hope to be in the forum more often.
