for sport? or organized racing? for the latter you'ld best check the rules and see if there are restrictions for your class.

Some of the fastest Scale hydros around still use a straight shaft like the real ones. Check them out. http://www.e-rcu.org/

anyone have suggestions on a good prop, the boat will be powered buy a 540 size bl motor and 8-12 cells[more than likely 10cells from the beggining] with a .130x3/16 flex shaft set-up , just need a range like 35-40 or 40-43 and sum pitch suggestions thanks

I gather from my reading that one shouldn't exceed the motor dia(at least for a starting prop. not sure about surface drives tho, think you can go some larger). course the dia of the stub shaft will limit your choices.

A bit late, but prop selection depends on the motor size and the motor Kv (rpm per volt). A lower Kv motor will usually allow the use of a larger prop, a high Kv motor is used for racing and usually needs a smaller prop. Let me know the exact motor type and Kv and we can make better recommendations.

the motor is a faigo 540c 9L with 3345kv ,on 10 cells no load rpm should be around 40,000rpm,from what i have read i should start off with either an x437 or x438 but any advise would still be helpful P.S. i lied im using a .150 flex cable

That's a lot of power for a 23" boat. You might be better off building one in the 28" to 32" range
