I know salt water causes rust on the drive train. Who has had problems and what precautions do you take besides hosing the boat down with clean water after a day of running.
Will the salt water work its way up the shaft where the propellar is attached???? Its seems my propellar is rusted now and so is the nut holding it on. Will this spread up the shaft????

you should remove your shaft after each days running and relubricate it. I presonally leave mine out until I am ready to run again I just wrap it up in plastic wrap after cleaning and lube to wait until I am on my way to the lake.

Lube it with what??? what do you reccommend?
Im not worried about the electronics. Im worried about the salt water rusting out the prop shaft causing it not to spin freely. I will buy a new prop and nut and seal them with a sealer. What can where the prop hooks up to the shaft to eliminate water getting up there.
All im worried about is salt water in the shaft. Not in the hull. My hull is sealed very well.

I use cable grease (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDR02&P=ML) on my Miss Bud, It is commonly used to lube shafts and keep water from creeping up the stuffing box.

I use epo grease or if you wish go to a marine store and get some gimble grease which is good for salt water. It is a little thick a couple drops of oil in it and it will thin out.

If you run in salt after run maintence goes way up , after rinsing everything in fresh water , you need to flush the water jacket and the pick up , rudder , header flange , coupling , etc.
Then pull cable wipe off water and regrease , push a swab through stuffing tube to push water out , pull shaft and wipe down and regrease , make sure to run a swab through the drive or strut to push water out.
If you are ready to do this stuff before you run in salt , then its easy and only takes a few minutes to do all this. Hook a hose to the water pickup and let it flush wihle you pull cable and drive parts , by time your done with those the system will be flushed clean.

see if you can find a product called grime eater. its used to remove rust. if you lube your stuff in that, it might help it stay rust free

I use a product called Salt X
it will nuetralize the salt.
I bought it at the tackle shop.
Spray everything down with it, and let it soak for a while then rinse away.
