Just was courious because I myself have done this several time. How many of you decided, heck with the car payment or bills for this month and got a new RC car or radio, speed controler or motor? :o

Doing that will only come to bite you in the end. I have perfect credit because when I was younger, the bills came first. I have some friends who didn't feel the same way and are now paying the price for it (Car loans are hard to get, mortgages denied, etc). Your credit it VERY important and not taking care of your bills when you are younger will only bring you headaches later in life. Not trying to sound like a dad to anyone or preach, but to you younger guys always get your finances in order now and life will be alot easier down the road :)

Always pay the bills first, without a house or a car I cant even drive RC so it would be pointless :)

Elcid is 150% correct. Screwing up your credit will haunt you severely down the road... not to mention that foregoing bills is simply irresponsible. You incurred a debt; it's your obligation to pay it. If someone borrowed $100 from you and, instead of paying you, they bought a new toy, you'd probably be pretty ticked off ;) .

Yeah I made the mistake with the credit earlier. I mean I have everything I need, but getting a newer car for me is not easy, and I have a car with allot of miles and pay out the butt interest rates, but I am lucky so far this one is reliable. I may steal a little now and then but not allot out of the bills.

Never done that and never will. Bills First, needs of other family members second, Money for retirement, then my rc cars. If it is important you will find ways to trim the other items. The habbit of a want item taking presedence over a need is a bad row to start down. Keep it in check.

I try my best to keep my priorities straight and pay bills and such first. I am guilty of spending money on R/C that i was supposed to spend on other things though.

Preferably save for the things you want so there is no debt to payoff, however if you can't wait, pay it off right away rather than making minimum payments.
I would also recommend to anyone old enough to be earning an income to "pay yourself first". Take $5 or $10 per week and put it into savings until you have enough to buy a certificate of deposit or invest it. It is amazing how quickly it will build and by the time you are in your 40's, if done right, you will not have to worry about retiring pretty.
I am in a sales position with a salary plus a commision on sales. My salary pays the bills while my commision is my fun money. It goes into a seperate checking acct and when it's gone, it's gone. Luckily things are going well right now :D

Pay the bills first - even with plastic you gotta use some good judgement.
Years back I would just charge the things I wanted - whether I really needed it and got in over my head. At first I'd pay the minimum payment and wonder why balance never went down. No on any bill even the electric and phone I pay more than the amount due and not have to pay as much the next. With CC charges unless the balance on it can be paid in 1-3 payments I don't use it-except in extreme situations - real car requires repair or home issues require repair.
Recently checked into possibly getting a new car, quoted the amount I wanted to pay etc.(real one) dealer informed me I had been approved. But when I though more on it why create another bill now, even though I could afford it - present car runs great and hasn't required major repairs, plus the extra money of no car payment allows for a little extra towards bills or rc.
