i have a yokomo yr4 m2 touring car and i wanted a lot of top end speed so i used a 48 pitch spur/pinion combo of 72/35 and its way too fast, its not even fun.

i was thinking maybe 96/12, but is that too much torque and is going to be too slow? what would be good all around gearing, somewhere in the 3 to 4 ratio range?

Are you planning to race at a local track? If so, ask some of the racers there, because different track layouts require different gearing... it also depends on what class/motor you're running.

If you just got your car built, and want to race this weekend, but don't know any racers, just call your LHS and ask them. If they don't know what gearing works best for that track, ask if they could give you the names and numbers of a couple of the racers.
