I am building a Dumas miss circus and was wondering where the best place to mount the tank is. The kit says to just shove it in the front and wedge it in with bits of foam. I was hoping to make a proper mounting system for it but am not sure where is the best position.

Should it be as far forward as possible?

Also, the instructions say to mount the driveline in the centre of the boat and the rudder on one side. I have read that it should really be mounted to one side of centre with the rudder in the centre. Any advice??

Thanks for the help.

G day Dom hows it going , sounds like your project is coming along,I was told to get one of those fuel bag type tanks and put it under the deck next to the motor so it will be interesting to hear a response.I also have a few questions to throw out so hear goes and hopefully you may get an answer you need as well. I am also building a miss circus hydro from a dumas kit but useing ply as recommended by hydro junkie and now have some questions. I have had to modify the hull layout by giving it a bit more width to take a 260 zenoah instead of a nitro motor and now need some advice on
: is there any power loss useing a wrap to centre header over any other styles
: is there any advantage to making the front and rear wings adjustable to enable some aerodynamic adjustment to help with making the boat "fly" better
: the plan calls for front and rear sponson pads, are these required and what do they do
: is it worth fitting a walbro(think thats how its spelt ) carby and if so how much more room will i need to fit it in instead of the standard issue
: how far from the rear of the boat should the rudder and prop sit

any help would be great

Okay guys, let me see now, where do i start:
Fuel Tank Location- in the cockpit, as per the plans isn't a good location. As the tank empties, the boat's balance is changed. You would be better off putting the tank under the deck on the right side and moving the radio box into the cockpit to take some of the weight off the prop.
Strut/Rudder locations- leave the prop in the center and put the rudder bracket on the left side of the center bay, centered on the engine bay sidewall. Putting the rudder in that location makes it easier to run a pushrod to the rudder, as well as forcing the servo to "pull" the rudder for a right turn
Adjustable wings- A godsend, Don't make them R/C, but have them set up so you can adjust the rear half of the canard and the rear wing to pivot at the forward mounting screws
Sponson Pads- Put them on. They raise the boat higher to get most of the sponson bottom out of the water for better performance
Rudder/Prop Location- Keep them as close to the transom as possible. In R/C Unlimiteds club rules, the prop MUST HAVE at least part of the hub under the boat. Moving the rudder away from the transom only increases the rudder pushrod length and your boat's turning radius
Can't answer the engine questions as I haven't set up a gas engine yet.
