I was checking out my car today and noticed that the ?axle pins? on the end of my rear MIP CVD's were slowly slipping out. What can I do to stop them? I dont want to spin my wheels and have them go flying.

Isky, I read your post in the general discussion. I havent lost my cross pins yet, so what I need to know is how to keep the ones I have in. crazy glue? locktite? thanks for any help.

I USE HEAT SHRINK. IT WILL HELP HOLD THE PINS IN PLACE.

Do you mean the roll pins that hold the wheels in place (it goes through the axle) or the ones inside the CVD itself (going through the rounded part)? For the one in the axle, it will be fine. The wheel will keep it there. For the other one, heatshrink tubing is the easiest and cleanest way to keep it there. Just get some that is big enough around to fit over, and you'll be fine. You could also try putting a small dot of shoe goo on each end of the pin. The most important thing to do is to use loctite on the CVD setscrew and make sure it is tight.

I clean the set screw real good and use thread lock. Havent lost one since I started that. If the pin is slipping out you want to fix them before they come any farther. The pin can break the a-arm if it comes out while the car is running. I learned that the hard way. The heat shrink also sounds like a great idea I never thought of that.

Well, my arm didn't break...just severly worn down. I now use something called grip tape for hockey sticks. Holds it better. As of late, I have been making my own pins....very trick and strong. Plus, it is super cheap. i cut binder clips to size. Takes a few minutes, but...better than spending 8.50 for just 2 pins. Plus, they are super strong.

Isky, What is a binder clip? Is it like a paper clip?

Thanks guys. Yeah, I meant the ones inside the CVD itself just inside the steering block. I guess I'll go out and get some shrink wrap!
