I'm getting the futaba MC330CR ESC,( http://www.futaba-rc.com/radioaccys/futm0922.html ) which can go down to a 13 turn motor. im putting this in a tt-01, and im wondering what the best 13 turn motor out there is, as far as performance and longevity. Ive been looking at the D6, 13t double, which i hear is good. price doesnt matter, as long as its worth it. its just for bashin though, so if the D6 is only a bit better than a cheapo no name, than i dont wanna waste the money.

For lower maintenance, I'd go with the Orion Revolution or Peak Vantage. Check out www.towerhobbies.com

The Reedy Flash though it's machine wound alo makes good power. While it's power is not like that of a hand wound for bashing I don't think you would be able to tell the minimal difference.
Key to getting speed and good runtime from any motor is finding the gearing that's good for how it's used. So be prepared to have some extra pinions. What you save vs buying a hand wound (40 vs 65) would allow you buy a couple extra pinion gears and set of brushes. I'd also try a 14 double it won't decrease the speed vs the 13 but bottom end is going to feel a little different plus you are likely to gain a little extra runtime and won't be on the edge of esc motor limit - allow some leyway.
The 13 & 14 turn hand wound regardless of the motor manufacturer each brand tends to have certain power characteristics that makes it favorable in certain types of rc racing. While the TOP (orion/peak), Yokomo (Reedy) tend to run more consistant the Epics (trinity) I consider like a Chevy engine - easy to ring HP out of them but if not maintained and geared correctly just don't work. Some of their motor lines D5, D6 tend to go flat, the Cobalt round wire makes better power/efficiency that it's flat wire version.

well i had a speed gems 15turn in my TL-01, and i didnt like it at all. there was no power, seemed like a stock motor. i probably didnt have it geared right though. I'll consider the peak racing motor and the revolution. BTW, whats the difference between single/double/triple? i used to know in my electric days, but i forgot now.

The winds is related to the power motor produces low and high end punch, the more strands (winds) the smoother power is. For bashing a double is generally a good starting point. Several things will help the motor reach it's potiential 1. experiment with different pinion gear ranges (find what the manufacturers suggest for that type of vehicle), also try using a larger spur - that is most cases helps (modifieds accelerate quicker than a stock motor).
