i assembled my first kit ever, TC3 racer, and i know i need a motor, batteries (+ charger), radio and an esc...but i don't have the cash to get everything at once. what should i buy next? does it matter what order i get things in and assemble them into my kit? can i just get whatever and throw it into the kit?
thanx in advance.
If it were me, I would buy a radio, then a motor, than a speed control.
Get the motor before the speed control for sure.... then you can make sure the speed control works before the return period runs out.

Geez, doesn't it bug you that you have a built car that you can't run yet... I would've saved all the money at once! I made the mistake of buying my NXT without an engine, then I had to wait for 3 days, 3 days! before I could go pick up a Picco to put in it! :)

I actually bought a radio and a charger first of all, then had to wait for a month or two before I could buy the kit.
The radio will give you something to play around with, while the motor and speed control really won't.

I would have to agree that the ESC would be the last purchase. Here is the order I would go with,
Radio
Batteries
Motor
ESC
Paint for the Body (if you don't already have this done.)
Actually I would be pulling my hair out and be buying some extra strength Rogain first since I had the car and couldn't drive it. :D
Nice choice for a first time purchase,
Jerry

i know, the fact that i can't drive my car yet is killin' me!
but at least i know what to get next. i am puting off painting/cutting the body for now cuz i've never done it before and i'm afraid i'll mess it up.
latez.

TJx2 is right- buy a radio first. Can you order through the mail, like from Tower Hobbies? You'll save TONS by mail order. Hey- congrats for your first kit! I hope you enjoy the hobby. It's as good as the time you put into it. Get as much knowledge as you can about what you do to your car, and the result will be both satisfying and worthwhile. Read the R/C mags cover to cover.
