I have been looking at the new pro 3 and decided that it might be a good idea to modify one and make a 4wd buggy out of it. I know that it would require alot of work and some parts not ment for a TC. I know most RC companies that first entered the TC bussines used 4wd buggies to get them into it. Such asd the XX4-Street Weapon-Rally Weapon. Why not do it backwards. I know what I need to get as far as parts to make the conversion. I'll have some nylon arms machined for me-the front with a 2-4 degree kick up- and some new shock towers machined out of carbon fiber. Anymore suggestions guys. I hope that I can do this. All I need is some dimensions for the widtrh of the front and rear arms. Also I need some suggestions as far as what buggy rims will work. Also what should I grab for a slipper clutch. I know I'll need one so I need an idea where to get one.

Killer-TL01, sounds like a challenging project, good luck. When you finish, let's see pics http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I know it sounds like a challenge but I want something that might kick a XX4's tail. Plus I want to have something no other person can have. As soon as I can get my hands on a pro 3 I'll start almost right away. The only problem I face right now is the fact that I need to design some arms and shock towers. That shouldnt be to hard sice I have almost 3 years of Auto CAD under my belt. The arm and shock tower problem is something minor compared to where I need to mount the wing for the back. Any suggestions for that. I'll post picks as soon as I start.

Most of the buggy's I see have the wing mounted just over the rear shocks. This location probably is the best as it allows the air to hit the wing forcing the tail down at a point of least resistance directly over the rear tires, thereby increasing traction.

If you want a 4wd that can beat a losi 4wd get a Schumacher Cat3000.

the biggest problem you might have is that the diff outdrives are out further than the lower arm mount, this will cause the arm and the drive shaft to have different angles when you raise the ride height

let me add that touring car chassis are 1 inch shorter that buggy chassis, so itll turn sharper than most buggys, and ive heard that the chassis on the pro 3 is more flexible than most, so you might think about either getting an aftermarket chassis(i know there out there) or stiffing up the one that came with it, cause thatll give you erratic handling off-road cause you want the shocks to take the bumps, not the chassis to give.

Make sure you stiffen your pro3 with a brace or carbon upper deck. I know stiffness is not a real issue in off road but this would add some extra durability...
