Finally heard the term last week. I been racing for years, but never been in one and I've never seen one run.

never heard of a "double a-main" I know they run triple a mains where you have to win two out of three to actually win the event. I assume this is similar.

I would say that it is a final finishing order of two races that determines the winner. Kinda like a point thing.

Double A-mains are pretty much the same as triple A-mains. The winner in each main gets 100 points and second gets 99 and so on down the line. Triple A-mains work the same, but each driver's best two out of three are counted. Personally, I'm not a big fan of multiple mains. I'd like to see longer mains events and have it be a single, heads-up race.

Double A mains are useful in their own way, perfect when you only want a handful.
I really prefer the double D mains though. "Bigger" terrain just makes it that much more challenging!

So, if you make the a-main, and it's a 20-minute double a-main event, that means you have to run TWO 20-minute races? Second a-main would be the exact same race with the same racers in the same order as the first a-main?
thanks

Multiple A-mains are really only an electric thing. If you make the A-main at a national event, you would run three five-minute long A-mains.

Well, there's a 20 minute double a-main nitro event this weekend, that's why I'm asking.

Question: If 'Bob' is 1st and 'Joe' is 2nd in the first main. Then 'Joe' is 1st and 'Bob' 2nd in the second main. Who wins?

Depends on how the tie breaker is set up. A normal tie breaker is the fastest of the 2 runs combined. Sometimes fastest single run. This question really needs to be asked of whoever is running the race.

whichever car is painted better. Nah see the thing is at our track it would make sense to have this, because we bang the heck out of eachother. Finishing a main is even hard enough to do.

I think in double A mains, if there is a tie, the top qualifier gets the extra point for the win.
