I have a Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC TLO1 and i want a new motor for it. I want something that is cheap and is fast. I was thinking about a Trinity Monsters of Touring or Team Orion Orbital 2 Mach Mod motor. Are these motors good? Do you have any other suggestions?

Yes, I have the Trinity Monsters of Touring 15T in my buggy. It's super fast, and it still runs like the day I bought it (25+ runs, no rebuilds). I'm sure it's lost performance, but I haven't noticed.
I'm not that familiar with Tamiya cars, but I'm pretty sure you have to buy a special set of Tamiya gears if you don't use a stock motor.

The monsters of touring are about as low as you can get with modified motors, they have bushings, non-removable end-bell, and no adjustable timing, and it is machine wound. I forget what the Orion motor is, but, some basic things to look for in a modified motor, are bearings, and a removable endbell.
A Speed Gems 2, or a Trinity Chameleon Pro, would be good.

I agree with XXXer. I would look at a Peak Stratus if I were you. Great performance, low price.

yeah but if youre looking for a non expensive bashing motor the monsters should be okay

For bashing it doesn't matter, and for club level racing it doesn't matter. Only when you get into national racing should you need a better, hand wound motor.
So, go with what you can afford.

if you already have an esc that can handle lower turns, you can go into the 15 to 17 turn range. theyll have more power and still have decent runtime. get the ones with bearings and adjustable timing, these usually are rebuildable and you can disassemble them for maintennance. i think youll have no problem with gearing since the tl01 only has 3 choices.

Even if you were to go with a bushing, fixed endbell motor you would want a Peak Thunderbolt or Team Orion Mach Mod. They are simply the best in their class as tested By R/C Car Action a few months ago.
