The battery you got is a good one.
Any reputable matchers pack is good.

Charge at 5-6A with your lowest detect setting.
Battery should peak around 122 degrees.
If it peaks lower adjust your delta peak setting higher until it is peaking at approx 115-125 degrees.

My new 3700's were peaking at 95 degrees and according to the matcher I bought them off thats too low, so I am still moving the threashold higher looking for the correct peak temp.

Once or if you become more involves, you'll start to notice certain quirks about the MRC 959 that most of us have come to realize. The unit is somewhat prone to overheating as well as false-peaking (undercharging) the newer NiMh cells. Once you see a need to upgrade, the charger, although won't hurt your cells now and is suitable for a beginner, go with a better quality charger to maximize your pack's performance.

Good luck and HAVE FUN

If you have the money, definitely buy a better charger. The MRC is known for false-peaking, which is stopping the charge process before the battery is fully charged. This just leads to headaches and missed heats (if you're racing).

While you are using the MRC, and after it beeps to let you know that the pack is fully charged, feel the temperature of the pack. If it is not even warm, start the charge process again. Repeat this until the pack is fully charged (it should be warm-hot in your hand). The reason you MAY have to do this is because of the false-peaking problem mentioned above.

Good chargers: A used Novak Millennium Pro or LRP Pulsar Competition and a power supply is one of the best ways to go for someone in your position. I would check out eBay, the local market, and the selling forums here on RCZ and RC Tech.

Good batteries: The IB3800 are AWESOME cells. The GP3700 are also very good. Check out the link in my profile.
