They make special solder or "braze" for aluminum. Don't get the 3-in-1 type braze either, it stinks. You can get quality braze from a welding supply store, but it will require a torch to use it. Aluminum braze is how most headers (manifolds) are joined together.
Depending on what you intend to do, there are very good welding rods for the industry, some trade marks are certanium and Magna, for use with torch or electric welding. I sell both of them in Mexico, but I donīt have information about the distributors at the USA. There are also distributors near the border, at Tijuana.

What do you intend to do? If its nothing that major that you need to weld it, you probably can get away with normal ol' soldering. When I used to slotcar race, some had aluminum chassis, and the only way to keep the motor on was to solder them. It worked fine for us, but if you use flux, be sure to wipe it off because it WILL corrode the aluminum. Thats just for stuff that wont go through much stress/pressure. If you were to, i dunno, permanately attch the engine mounts so you didnt need screws to the chassis, I bet thats the most you can go. But other than that, welding is the word.
