be very careful with this esc, i think the max motor for these is about 27t stock.
They are produced as a cheap alternative to the old MSC's for use with the can motors that come with tamiya kits

Thanks for the tip. yeah your right about them being cheap, but i gave it a run yesterday and it took it with NP's i gave the esc the finger heat test after a minute and it was dead cool. after running a whole 3600 batt through it it was slightly warm.
those super stocks are GREAT for drifting!!...

Not sure about the Super Stock RZ motors (dont know anything about them), but I have been told the TEU-101BK can handle down to 23t motors by people on this forum. When my LHS called the Tamiya rep, he said the documentation says 19t, but he wouldnt dip below 21t.
I am going to pick up the RS540. Have been reading good things about the Sport Tuned cans.

Kurrz - Care to let us know how you like the RS540 vs the Silver can 540 that is stock in a lot of kits with this ESC?
Thanks!

Hello everybody, I'm about to get a super stock tz, but I'm kind of worried about the TEU-101bk getting too hot and making the motor useless, is there any way to cool it down? eg heat sink with a fan, any experience?
Have fun :p

RCCA tested a Gravel Hound with a 19t motor and the Teu 101bk esc and it got warm, but did not thermal. They also recommended gearing down to prevent potential problems.

ok i am using the super stock motor rz and my esc is a ripmax xtra no limit.
this is the nuts and load of cool features on it like time delays on acceleration .It i worth paying the extra money for this one because if you choose to upgrade your motor agian you know you wont need to get anouther esc as well...............

Hello everybody and thanks a lot for the info
Is there a way I can find the review you mentioned above? maybe on-line?
My super stock is on the way and we'll see....
I was thinking about glueing an heatsink with a fan connected to an extra battery that should prevent the trouble, I'll post pics when I get it done!
Have fun ;)

those tamiya esc are junkie,i dont use them after a bad experiance,i sell them on ebay n buy a real esc,i wish tamiya would have stayed with the msc instead of these cheesy non bec esc's
btw-the silvercan 540 motor n the ones that come in the kits r the same motor,a stock 540 as well as a traxxas stinger, its a 540 motor with fancy stickers

A friend of mine has the same setup and seems to be working really good for him. He never mentioned any issues with that setup.

I've been running a Green Machine 2 with mine. Have about 10+ hours on it. Working great. Feels warm after a run. Nothing extaordinary.

The stock Tamiya ESC works fine with 19 and 20turn motors. It will have no issues with a 23 turn or higher, especially if you gear it properly.

I am looking at picking up the Tamiya Superstock 23T RZ from RCMart, and have read that I should be sure to gear it properly. I will probably gear at 67T Spur with either a 20 or 21 pinion.
When installing the motor, I noticed the motor has an arrow ->. Will I be installing the motor with the arrow -> towards the spur or away from the spur?
From the feedback most are giving, the esc can handle down to 19T but shouldn't go below 21T.
Thanks gang.

Hi Guys!
Did you know that the TEU-101BK ESC can handle motors down to 23turns/24degrees anvanced?!
In which case, I have a few tips for you all on how to maximize your TEU-101BK ESC.
1. Replace all wires with a 14gauge or 12gauge size (you may find it difficult to install the 12gauge, you will have to widen the holes on the ESC PCB board, the shortest wires provide more power, shorten for efficiency)
2. Attach in parallel with the ESC wires connecting the battery a 16v / 4800mf Capacitor.
3. Disable the reverse function by: Connect the ESC to a battery, press and hold the set-up button then switch on the power. A sound or beep will confirm the successful process.
4. Install a shottky diode on your motor...
Voila! you can now run 27turns and 23turn 24degree advanced motors!!!

Yeah.... let me see how long the esc survive with 23turn motor. Don't forget to report back !!!

I've been running a Trinity 19x1 speed gem pro on my TEU-101 for quite some time in 3 different tamiya onroad cars without it getting much over ambient temperature. I'm sure running onroad is much easier on it, but I've also been very conservative on my gearing. Considering it was free with one of my kits, it's been excellent.

got the super stock 23T from tamiya and it works fine with the teu-101bk :). after 10 minutes running inside it gets hot but doesn't shut down, running outside with +4 C° gives no trouble of heating up at all!
By the way the motor is fast! Did anybody do a Dyno test of it?
Have fun
