Can someone give me a little information on tamiya buggies? I am thinking of getting a 4x4 electric for back yard bashing. I want a buggy that is tough, can handle jumps at a bmx track, and can handle mod motors. I have an esc, radio, motor, and batteries, i just need a buggy. Tamiya's come to mind for the price, this is just for fun not racing. Any tips would be great, thanks. :)

OK, i have been doing some looking around, and the tamiya dirt thrasher looks cool, does anyone here have one? Are they tough, any mods for them, and can tires for other buggies be used on the wheels?

Hey Dom,

I am pretty new to this, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just bought the Tamiya Gravel Hound, and this thing is great! Oil filled shocks, ESC, everything RTR.

There is a thread on this model that is 50+ pages, and it gets bang up reviews. I suggest checking it out :)

I agrre with Slippin3. I've got a Rising Storm (same chassis - DF02) and it's great.

I have a Tamiya Blazing Star. The chassis is exactly the same. The only difference between the Blazing Star and Dirt Thrasher is the body, wheels and tires.

They are extremely tough buggies and great bashers. Just be sure to get a ball bearing set when you buy one.
