What is the worst thing you have ever done to an RC car? I think that my worst was when I jumped my truck off a 5 foot jump. I tried to get an extra boost of speed at the last second, and I accidently landed it with the tires spinning like crazy. That stripped the differential gears, which were a pain to replace.

I was running my Stampede at a local BMX track and let off the throtle so much that the truck nosed down on landing and broke the front bulkhead, camberlinks, shock shafts, shock tower and skid plate.

Well, I've had tons of little crashes and tumbles, many of them on pavement, but the worst ones happened in the dirt. I once went to a big dirt jump, and the first time I jumped it, my truck went about eight feet in the air and I overshot the other side of the ramp, so it smacked the ground hard after landing on flat ground from eight feet in the air. A few minutes later, I jumped it about six feet in the air and it came down crooked on the other side of the ramp and cartwheeled down the slope about five or six times. Again that same day, on the same jump, my battery was getting a little low and the truck didn't jump far enough. When it landed, the middle of the chassis slammed down on the top curve of the dirt ramp, then it bounced up and landed on its top. I went home after that. Nothing ever broke, though! Darn strong truck once you buy some aftermarket goodies for it......

So far, the worst thing ever happened is my TB01 slammed hard onto the metal gaps which happen to be in the oval skirting ring. Broke the rim to 2 pieces. (the bumper didn't fully covered that part). http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/frown.gif

I was running my T-Maxx on the side of a hill about 50 feet from me, at just about full speed, around 30mph and there was a flat faced rock that I didn't see in the terrain. BOOM!!! stopped dead in it's tracks. I had to replace the left front bulkhead and the lower left A-arm and had to bend that hinge pin back so it was straight....not that fun :-(
I took my electric Rustler off a 20+ foot jump cased the wooden landing ramp and broke my left rear arm and bulkhead, and snapped my chassis in half right behind the ESC mount.

I built a rocket car a few years back out of old RC parts. That provided some awesome "worst things" events. Here's one of them.
20 Feet Straight Up!
Date: 1990
Location: Stadium Mall under the highway
Time: around 11:00 p.m.
We upgraded the rockets to a double stage D rocket (two rockets back to back). Right off the line the car started veering to the left so I steered right but I over compensated so I turned left again, this time way too much, and then BOOM!! the car hit a curb and was airborne. The first stage took the car to the curb and it was somersaulting to around 5 - 6 ft up when the second stage kicked in and launched it up to around 20 ft. The whole time, all I could hear was the rockets roaring so I thought maybe it was alright. When I got there the car was practically folded in half with wires ripped out and radio equipment and body pieces all over the ground. What a great run!

In Hawaii, our off-road track is next to the ocean. You already know whats going to happen. It didn't happen to me, but I was a witness when it happened. This guy was running his 1/8th scale Inferno MP5 around outside the track on the grass. All of a sudden, he lost control of his car for some reason (I think his receiver battery unplugged), and it just took off towards the ocean. He ran after it but his car is just too fast. At the edge of the grass, there's a small berm and then a 4 foot drop into the ocean. That MP5 made a very nice jump off that berm and took a dive into the ocean. We ran to the shore to check it out. we were over there staring at his car. The guy was bumming, but he took it in pretty good spirits considering his car was sitting under 2 feet of water. We gave him a "10" for that nice dive. He pulled it out, and later that day, he actually got his engine to start up. So that was good news. I'm sure that engine didn't last much longer though.

i was showing off to one of my friends with my nitro rustler. they wanted a 4-tec so i thought i could get him hooked. it took my rustler nearly full throttle down this little ramp to the church parking lot and i forgot to replace my batterys so they were nearly dead. i let off the throttle turned hard left while hitting the brake the batterys werent to great so the response time was bad then SMASHHHHHH right into a parking curb. i htought it was ok i hit going about 20 mph. it looked ok then i noticed i bent the rear axle, bent the front shock, nearly demolished my wheel its cracked in like 3 places. those were my raceing tires and wheels to!! so i had to buy new tires and rims for racing. and i made them my play tires which i still play with. and some other parts with a tottal price of about $40. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/frown.gif broke my wallet for about 2 weeks

I don't know whether this is worst or not but i just hit my dog right on his right leg when he tried to cross my fully modified TL01 stadium Raider truck last week, and guess what? we have to take him to the vet for operation on his broken right leg!!!!
I really pity him. Gee, never thought, this incident actually hurt my wallet. the operation cost me RM150...thats around USDollar40 !!!

I was runing my Schumacher Desert Storm .21 in an empty parking lot. After a few runs I took it up to full speed (55Mph) and then noticed my radio batteries were DEAD!! Well a long story short I hit a concrete parking barrier, and caused about $150 dammage oh well!! The parking barrier got a good beatin with my sledge hammer that i went home to get after the wreck.

JP, those are model rockets, D size. You have the right idea by using an old car that you won't cry over when it gets demolished. These things can be tough to control.
If you haven't seen it yet, I have more info, pictures and movies of the rocket car here. http://www.rcarchive.com/rca/mytruck.html

Actually I'm gunna buy someones trashed RC10L3 i think thats what its called for $25 with no electronics and barely runable. I'm going to throw in a cheap S3003 servo, a Super Rooster (its also trashed), and those engines. Its going to be hard to explain here.

Well this one time I was ramping my RC10T of a 3 foot long 1 1/2 foot high wooden bike ramp with no landing ramp. Now the ramp was only 2 feet wide with 3 inches of wood sticking out of the top on the sides of the supports and the fifth or so time I went off it the truck drifted right. The left front tire caught the top of the support. The truck flipped twice, cartwheeled once and did a 720 at the same time. When it landed the suspension bottomed out on the pavement. You wouldn't beleive the scratch marks on the bottom of the chassis and a-arms. Another time behind my house I was driving my 10T and accedentaly drove right off the 3 foot top tier of the retaining wall, nose dived, slammed the edge of the bottom tier of the wall, flipped, and landed on the wheels. When I inspected my truck I found nothing broken, but the front of nose plate where the bumper mounts was bent from its usual placement at 45 degrees to the ground to 110 degrees past verticle.

A good place to jump your cars/trucks is construction sites. They sometimes have mounds of dirt piled up. Those make great jumps if you take them right. And the terrain at construction sites are often bumpy where you can apprecate the shock absorbtion of your truck.
I would not go to construction sites while people are working though.

I take my RC10T camping all the time. One of my favorite things to do is drive it under the back and out the front of motorhomes as they come and go. One time I lost control as I passed under a bus and SQUISH. I think I was able to save a few parts like the battery holddown and a couple of screws. It was a good excuse to get an RC10GT. I don't do that anymore with my GT, I use my 4Tec Pro, its faster.

Thanks for the compliment (dumass?). Sometimes the ordinary gets too mundane and I have to push the limits of normally acceptable behavior to get my adrenaline fix. Don't knock it till you try it!

Hey I gots a crash report...
I wanted to get into this hobby so I started buying the rcca mags. and I finally decided on just a Electric Rustler, little did I know it was a piece of junk! the very first day I got it I turned on the receiver, then battery and off it went full speed into a concrete curb headon! Nothing broke in the front but the rear suspension arms were snapped, then later on I noticed that all the screws on the truck were bent. I dont even remember what all I replaced, but about everything. Well I bought an Dymond ESC for it and I went down to the Aug. canal bmx track with insane vertical jumps, like 15ft to 20! I got my friend into it too, so he bought one too. Well after about 4 hrs. We decided to quit the day, and clean all the ed clay off our cars. To get to the point though I would just like to thank him because he let me use his rustler as a donor car so I could replace mine b/c he bought a XXTCR graphit Plus and I want to know what all hopups I can get for it. I need the site with the hopped up Rustler, so I dont have to order the whole mag.from RCCA
I had an old Radioshack Car in mint condition (which I tweaked to go 29.3 mph!) and went off a jump (3 inch ramp) and was in the air almost 10ft., when I landed the front tires and axles split in half, the rear tires poped, the gear striped, (due to reverse) motor exploded, (not badly) and the battery cracked... Talk about major damage **** it. I fixed it up (hardly) and its a pretty fast 3 wheeler.
Oh yes, the frame broke in half and the screws stripped.

I was driving my T-Maxx at the blue cross of california in Los Angeles.(The grass surronding the building has huge hills adn jumps.)Anyway i Was doing a high speed run in a flat area when all of a suden i lost radio control, then it went over a hill ran into a curb and then hit another curb adn flipped over, still going at full throttle until it ran out of gas. Dammage: All of the screw in the front bulkhead were sheared off, the gpm front skid plate was folded like a book, the chassis was bent about 20 degrees upwards, the servo cases were torn to shreds(the mounting holes were torn off, and the front bearing support was torn in half.
