Your question is a little vague. On-road or off-road? Foam or rubber?

Ok with foams typically speaking the softer the tire the more grip it will have and the faster it will wear out. However there are some foam mixtures that are higher in rubber content that grip better and last longer. We used to call these exotic foam because of their different mixtures. Standard foam was (softest to hardest): yellow, green, blue, orange. Exotic foam is: white, pink, black, purple, plaid, aqua (not in order), and probably a few more that I have missed.

This is exotic foam...

Oh I also forgot to mention shore rating. Shore rating is the firmness of the tire. Some tires are rated by color as stated above but not all companies do that so they list a shore rating instead. The higher the number the harder the tire will be.

so yellow, green, blue, orange are the softer and white, pink, black, purple, plaid, aqua are the hardest.

No...yellow, green, blue, and orange are of different construction then white, pink, black, purple, ect...yellow to orange is soft to hard in that type of construction. In the exotic construction I believe it is white to purple as soft to hard. Because their construction is different so is their handling characteristics so it is rare to have a comparison between the 2 types of construction.
