Since we've all been playing show and tell with our old-school rides, I figured I'd snap a shot of my Fast Attack fer ya. I built this a few years ago for an article in Car Action from a NIB kit. I ran it for all of about 3 minutes for action photos, and here it sits. It's got the original 6-cell hump pack too!
Anyone got any pics of their old rigs, post them here!!

That's really cool looking. Who's it made by? I used to have a Super Blackfoot, but I sold it recently to support my new nitro habit. That was my first and only electric. Man that thing was cool.

Here's another one I've had on the shelf for a while. This was one of the hot oval cars in it's day. It's a Bolink Eliminator Gold Edition with the Sanyo Cadnica 1700 SCE cells, a Tekin Pro Tempfet ESC, and a Speedworks Joel "Magic" Johnson stock motor. It also has a Futaba Mag Jr. and a S132H high speed servo.

Hey Steve (or anyone else)-- I'm in the market for a mint or NIB Tamiya Avante (14 years after I wanted one, I will have one!). I've been watching ebay, and one passes through from time to time, but can anyone recommend any other places to check? I passed on one that was on ebay a few weeks ago because one of the rear radius rods was bent, and it didn't have the manual or box. It ended up going for $175. Other than that it looked like it would have been beautiful after a good cleaning. If anyone has any sources or tips for me... let me know!

Hey low budget: those are Race Prep connectors. Wish I had a pic of my Heathkit Spectra circa 1972. Oh well, here's my Tamiya Bruiser "slightly" modified with Clod Buster body & tires/wheels. Dual battery drill motors/gear boxes (one for each axel) & hitch for sled pulling.

Steve, where did ya get your Tamiya? I remember that article. It was like August of 1999 or something I think. Looks nice.
Those are really nice looking cars. My RC10 looks terrible compared to yall's cars and trucks. I like the Bruisers and the Monster RC10 a lot.
Mark98SS, your tires are on backwards. You have them on so they push the dirt to the middle, when they're supposed to push it off to the sides.

Yes, the tires are reversed  Better traction for sled pulling

Steve, that thing is absolutely too cool! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/happy/xyxthumbs.gif And, in that AE oval car, you say they are the Cadnica 1700's? Aren't those the batteries that came out when they were still using 1200's for racing, and those batteries would vent like crazy?
Either way, that attack vehicle deally is the coolest thing around Steve, keep it pristine. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/boldred.gif
SteveP
06-09-2001, 11:55 PM
It's actually a Bolink oval car, and yes, those are the infamous 1700 SCE cells. They acutally weren't too bad by the standards at the time. The only downfall was the cells would go into this horrible cruise control with about 45 seconds left in the race. The 1700 SCE cells were actually preceeded by the 1400 SCR if my memory serves me.

That Thunder Tiger "Challenger" buggy is awsome looking. To bad they don't make that style of vehicle anymore.
You know what AE and Traxxas, Tamiya and Kyosho and all the other companies of old cars should make? A limited edition blast from the past truck that they made pre/close to 1990. Like the chain driven Kyosho nitro truck, RC10/T, Tamiya Grasshopper, etc. And only make it for a limited time, like a duplicate of the previously made ones.

Broken Parts, HECK YES! I love those cars, they really are cool cars, and i wish that Traxxas would still race, they were such cool cars, i do not know if they ever won large races, or had any top name drivers, but they always had some awesome vehicles back in the day...
Say, if i could get my hands on a Nitro Hawk, that would just be sweet!

it gettin late here, ill post pics in the morning
btw it isnt all stock cuz i changed the front end to fit rustler/pede castor blocks and other parts, cuz they do nt make the srt's castor blocks or wheels anymore.
EDIT- the reason they dont make them anymore is because they wanted to be a fully rtr company.

I dont have the digicam with me today, but I just got what I think is going to be a very cool car to have on the shelf. It's a #6016 RC10 kit (new in the box). which is the original car with ball bearings, but without the resistor speed control. In the same package is a new-in-box MIP 4wd conversion. It may not mean much to some of you because it was before your time, but this was one of the cooler cars and conversions to have back then. The Kyosho Optima Mids kinda killed the demand for the MIP conversion, but it still sticks in my mind as one of the hottest set-ups of its time. :D

Rc1oGtMaN,
Thanks for the notification of the bad link. I think I have it fixed now. It is hard for me to tell sometimes since the page and the pics are on my hard drive. Sometimes my computer will make it seem like the page or pics are working fine but others can't see them.
If someone could be so kind and let me know if it is working now I'd appreciate it.

Well here we go again. I finally got this car yesterday and I just finished building it today. Its an HPI Super F1. From the date on the box I think its from around 1994 so its not the oldest here.

Steve... did you get that RC-10 and MIP 4WD kit from the guy over at rcracing.com? I think I posted that a while ago in another thread... I was gonna snag it but I got busy with my thesis and finals and totally forgot about it. If you got it, great! I know it went to a good home :D
Also, I have scanned my old instructions for the 4-10 Legend, they're available HERE (http://www.jimdyerchevyclassics.com/stuff/410legend/).

Mark - I thought the 300 had a diff, but it doesn't look like that car has one.
WKW - I don't HAVE a bank roll, that's the problem! :D
Wojo - My guess is, it's a Jerobee car. Those were typically smaller than the Associated cars.
Steve, that is amazing! My first car was a Hirobo Zerda 4WD, and I was inspired by an article I saw in my first R/C Mag. Radio Control Car Action! My brother got the Kyosho Icarus(also reviewed in that issue) and you guys also reviewed the first RC10. I still have the issue, and the Zerda till this day

Do you have, or know of, any any Jerobee cars? I had a 1/12th scale electric in 1980, and I'm trying to find out some information about them. I was only 9 at the time.
