I have an old RC10T, it has a stock motor and the speed controller probably cant handle anything better than stock. I was just wondering if it be better to just up and get a new RC10T4, rather than spending alot of money on it just to have it break and not be able to get any parts for it. i was looking at getting a brushless motor system.

In the last year or so I've restored 3 10Ts to runners, the parts are out there, just gotta find 'em.

If your going to go brushless I would lean towards the 10T4 as you will undoubtedly break more parts than running stock or even mod motors. Also the parts are more widely avaliable.

Hope this helps some

yeah i think i will get a whole new truck, im too lazy to hunt down parts. I like how they have them all assembled and come with the radio and motors these days. I just started back into the hobby after over 10 years. i just bought a Jato so gonna have to wait a bit on getting a new rc10t4. as its gonna cost alot to get back into electric again, all the stuff i have is rather old and probably obselete.

are these brushless motors really fast?

I do not run brushless, but from what I've read they are VERY fast.

Consider that your 10T was designed and manufactured over 10 yrs ago, and the hot motors of the day might have been equal to or lesser than say a good handwound 14turn of today. With this in mind, the brushless are running about say 9 turns? The suspension and such would have no problem (repalcements are abundant) its the transmission that will suffer, the gears inside are old and somewhat brittle (replacements are somewhat scarce).

As far as the older electric equipment you have, I run 10 year old Novak esc's and buy up older vintage motors when I find them. The batterys are another thing all together, I pitched my old AE charger and bought an Ice from Duratrax.

Hope this helps

i think if i put a brushless motor in my rc10t, that it will just fall apart, i noticed its missing a few nuts and alot of the metal is rusting, and yeah im sure the gears would just not handle that kind of motor. thnx for the info.
