I a looking for some standard guidelines on tuning a new to me gas mono.

I would like info on what you would tune first how and why.

I got this RTR from a guy. Its a "54in Velocity Vee Hull"

I am new to boats and would like to start racing next year.

I have been doing some reading and learned some things.

I would like to treat this boat as if nothing is set up correctly so I don't
miss anything.

Please let me know what and how you would start this process.

Here is the Item number: 5997090483 from the auction (ebay) of the boat.

Thanks,

John Fruge

Here is a good set of articles on setting up the driveline for racing:

1-1/2 turns out on each needle will put you right in the ballpark.

If its a 260 Zenoah according to my FACTORY MANUAL then
1 5/8 on the high
1 on the low

i always start at 1 1/4 low and 1 1/2 high end, oce there get it started and tune the low end first. let the boat idle and very slowly turn the needle in. The rpm should pick up, when it reaches its highest point then starts to falter a little, turn it back 1/4. A 1/4 makes it safe thats the low end set. The high end just run the boat get it warm and see how its runs then turn the needle in a fraction at a time till you get your max speed. Always check plug color. If it dies when full throttle turn it back a little, same as the low end if it dies its to lean. Simple.
