No, I have no news concerning a racing Tamiya, but I do have pictures of my homebuilt.

I call it the TT01B because it is based off of a TT01 chassis. I'll do a quick run down of the features.

The drivetrain features stock gear diffs (which I might seal and put some oil in), a Tamiya aluminum main shaft and custom dogbones. The dog bones were turned from 3/8" round delrin on my lathe. The pins are 01 tool steel. Metal bones aren't necesary, if you've ever seen a TT01, you'd agree that the stock bones and outdrives are huge, so the plastic will hold up. The entire drivetrain spins on bearings

The suspension is completly custom. On both ends it has carbon fiber shock towers, Evader ST shocks and extended arms milled from delrin. The arms are angled to give a longer wheelbase and roll on hard anodized aluminum hinge pins. Up front, I machined a delrin hinge pin mount that gives 10* kick up. Also, DF02 knuckles and hubs are used in place of the stock peices.

For grip, I have Pro-line M3 holeshot tires mounted on rear B4 wheels. The front wheels have been narrowed by cutting the inner bead off. The wing is also from a B4 while the body is from a BJ4.

I don't know much about buggies, but that one looks pretty nice! Very professional.

It looks great, looks like you did a very nice job. Only thing I would change is the aluminum hinge pins. They will bend bery easy IMO.

Now that is cool. You'd never know it was originally a road car-looks very "factory." (a good thing in this case!) I've been considering a similar project, so I'll be very interested in knowing how it handles.

Looks like an awesome buggy! Tamiya should make a buggy like that! I like the Carbon Fiber shock towers!

Thanks all for the comments. I still need to remake a few parts, like slightly longer rear driveshafts and the front hingepin mount. The hingepin mount broke when landing nose first off of my tabletop (roughly 6 feet tall)

It looks great, looks like you did a very nice job. Only thing I would change is the aluminum hinge pins. They will bend bery easy IMO.

Not when they are 3/16" thick.

so I'll be very interested in knowing how it handles
From what little I've run it, it handles great, it could use stiffer springs though.

Umm....am I missing something.......or are there are no pics
Refresh? They are there.

How well does the body fit the chassis?
They body would be a perfect fit if it was a little wider at the front and allowed a little more room for electronics.

I must be missing something too, for some reason I can only see the body on shot....It's killing me :)

You should make kits to sell or upgrade peoples cars. I'd be interested if you could do this to my TB01.

Props on the conversion but isnt it more or less a tamiya DF02 chassis?
