I just bought a new Duratrax axis buggy and am in the process of installing the electronics. I rigged up my battery two servos and revceiver to test the gear before installation. When i applied power to the circuit one of my servos started to hum. I bought a new tower hobbies high torque servo and used one of my old futabas. my reciever is a futaba as well. Tower hobbies claims that the servo is compatible with futaba gear. My part numbers are: reciever(fp-r102gr),futaba servo(fp-s148), tower hobbies servo(ts-65). Any suggestions? I think it's a bad servo but i will test it again this weekend on a brand new futaba system to verify my results. IF anyone knows something i don't it would be great if you could reply! Thanks!!

It's not uncommon for servos to hum a little. Unless it's loud or smelling like it's burning ( )I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Well, is the servo centered??? Try fiddling with the trim knobs on your transmitter if the wheels are turned. Also, the humming noise may just be normal!

i finally took apart the servo after all my tests failed. Inside the servo, the gears looked like perfect circles WITH SMOOTH EDGES AND NO TEETH! Man!That wasn't cool! I learned my lesson no more cheapo servos. I am going with a genuine futaba with metal gears. I should have done that in the first place!

P.S.-You are totally correct. Some high torque servos will make a humming noise. I checked my bros out and his does this. Thanks for the info guys!!!
