I was just wondering if people like Brian Kinwald make a decent living being a RC driver. What is a purse at IFMAR worth? Do you get tons of $$ sponsoring a bunch of products or just free stuff. Here's the question....is Kinwald worth Millions or Thousands?

Before I was tranferred overseas I raced at M-n-M hobbies were Brian races, practices and tests equiptment. I could not tell you what he is worth. Nor wold I try to guess. But with all the marketing and merchandise he has put his name on I bet alot.

I heard most of the drivers get about what you make working in a hobby shop. if they win they get some bonus but not hat much. cool thing is free traveling and tons of free parts.

I would think that like most things, Brian makes more on endorsements than actually on racing. I have met several NASCAR drivers. Dale Jr. said he makes about 5 times as much in endorsements and appearances than he does actually racing. And at the time he was relatively unknown. Look at all the things that carry Brian's name. I would assume that Brian has something in his contract that he gets a percentage of everything sold carrying his name.

I met most of the factory-team drivers at the Worlds in Vegas, and they are almost ALL employees of their respective companies. They have full time jobs doing things like customer service, or sales/marketing, R&D, etc and then race their company's cars at all the major races. So they have full time salaries & jobs just like anyone else, and then if they're lucky enough to have endorsements, they make more $$ there as well, plus whatever the incentives are for winning races from thier sponsors.
