Just a quick Question, I want a 2wd 1/10th or 1/8th scale electric On Road Car(NEW). This is for a project car I want to plan to build for fun :D . All I see is 4wd tour cars, What ever happened to 2wd? I don't plan to race it, just kick around on the street and I don't really want a Pan Car. Traxxas use to make a 2wd street sport but quit making it :( Anything nice out there? If not don't worry I'll probley make one.........Got some Ideas  :D

Tamiya and Parma make cheap cars that have hop-up potential.

Vato,

I think it's just that 4WD handles better/easier to drive so manufacturers don't produce RWD anymore. Tamiya even went to 4WD with their newest F1 car, the F201 (uspet a few purists, but after they tried it, they were sold!) Associated had the Dual Sport and you still might be able to find those on ebay. You could also just remove the front driveshafts and diff from a 4WD touring car.

That what I was thinking Might have to make one or get a pan car rc10L! This is a scale project. I got an Idea how I might come up with it;-)but I was hoping that there was a nice 2wd kit out there to make life easy.........thanks, Chris

Check and see if Associated still sells the Dual Sport.
Or look in the swap and sell sections and buy one.
They were a great car in their day.

Do not give up on Tamiya so fast. You should check out the m chassis cars on tamiya's web site if you want a 2 wd chassis to build. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/category.php?sub-id=36350
I personally have 2 ff-02 to bad they were discontinued, 1 m-02L, and 1 m-03. If you look around I am sure you can find one or all of these chassis's unbuilt.

hey man the dual sprots by ae were basically rc10 gt's with onroad chassis and arms on it.... im doing a very simular thing with a .12 rossi i have sitting around. i am going to use some Al and cf to make a chasis... use a gt trans and im thinking bout a ntc3 style susp... should be a fun little project.... more of a drag car than a touring car... the rwd config especially with any decent powe ris just gunna do donuts all day...... this should be fun... like driving my big block firebird.... tons of power no traction

Pan touring car. Insanely fast. I've got one, its kinda though to drive if your street isnt very clean/smooth, but holy crap is the top speed ever crazy. I dont use mine very much anymore, if your interested in buying it PM me.

We use to convert our 2wd buggies into onroad cars sometimes using very few items. Install spacers on shock shaft to lower it, or use shortened shocks, shock towers (from the dirt oval manufacturers) and tire/rims that can be run on asphalt.
Pan cars are a beast to handle on any unprepared surface, while I race them competitivly (10L4 X Factor) speeds are more like 45-52mph in race trim (4cells) add two volts and speeds were like 55mph+ on some tracks. Proline did make a rim once for pan cars that allowed you to use their Striker and Road Rawg tires but discontinued then. Plus most pan cars kits are in the $235 (10L4) to $325 (KSG, Hyperdrive) price range. You still need to purchase tires, body, radio, ecs, and battery tray is usually limited to a 4cell layout except for the 10L4 which uses a 6cell tray.
