Hey,
I plan on getting a B4 this winter. So I was think of getting a ESC that can take 8 turn and 6-8 cells. I did see that Duratrax makes one that has a limit of 8 turns and 6-7 cells for about 75 dollars. Which is good. And I was like the Epic Shock Modified 9 T motor. But is saids that is puts out 37,431 rpm at 5 volt. So at 7.2-8.4 volts, what are is the rpm output? So if you have any comments, or suggustion, they are welcome.
Thanks,
Shawn

Are you planning on bashing only? If so, go brushless. It's faster and ultimately cheaper.
If you are planning on racing, you will never use an 8 turn motor in a buggy - and you will always use 6 cells. ESC-wise, I would go with the latest offerings of LRP or Novak - both are good.

Yep
In fact, I'd recommend brushless either way. The LRP and Novak systems are ROAR legal, and since most clubs follow ROAR rules, you should be fine. I had the original Novak system and I currently run a Sphere/NEO. Both systems are excellent and I'd probably quit running electric before I went back to brushed motors.

Ok I think I will go with the LPR SR ESC. But How many rpm will I get out of the Epic Shock Modified 9 turn with 8 cells.

I'd really go brushless unless you want to constantly be maintaining that motor, low turn mod motors always require more maintenence.
The novak GTB might suffice.

OK, well what is a brushless motor that is better than( more kv) the Epic Shock Modified 9T, that is either a 8 or 9 turn

Both the LRP and Novak GTB systems should be comparable to a 9 turn, except without the maintenance.

I can vouch for that... the LRP/Reedy system is crazy. Before that I had the Novak Super Sport (with the SS5800) and it was crazy fast, too. I like the LRP/Reedy a little more just because it feels a lot more linear and the footprint of the ESC is small, but you can't go wrong either way.
Oh, and the sensor on the LRP/Reedy system isn't hardwired at either end (Novak hardwires theirs to the motor = BAD), so you can easily replace it if needed.

OK, i think I will run a Novak ss5800 and a LPC V7.1 on 8 cells, which should give me about 55680 rpm. IT that good or is their something better out there.

cant run a BrushLess motor on a non-BrushLess esc

Well now I'm think of the Novak Super Duty.

Wait until the Novak GTB system is available, then get that. It is a complete system with the ESC and motor.

What exactly is it you're trying to do? Unless you're trying to create some sort of FrankenB4, you don't need 8 cells and you certainly don't need to worry about RPMs.

Why don't I need 8 cells, and why don't i need to worry about rpm? So what do I need to worry about.

Get the Novak 5800. I've got it in my B4 and it is very fast. You can run a 7th cell if you feel the need for more, I don't.

What speed do you think you are getting, and how is it handing at high speeds.

Again, what is it you're trying to accomplish? What's the application? Racing? Bashing? 100 yd dashes?
The latest brushless motors are quick on their feet with a 6 cell GP3300 pack and will run 15 - 25 minutes depending on the conditions. Unless you're trying to break a land speed record with buggies, even 7 cells seems a little overkill.

Well I plan on beating my LX Comp. which does about 45-50 but I will be puting a 2 speed tranny in it so it will do about 60. And I have to beat my uncle, that have a electric, that does about 60 also.So I will have to be able to beat those. So I will need about 7 or 8 cells. And since it is 2wd I will have to change the gearing.

LiPoly + U-Force ESC + applicable BL motor = CRAZY FAST. :D

ok, I plan on running 3 lipo, the Heavy Duty Novak esc, and the SS5800, but what gearing do you think I should run, I was think of a 78/16 is that good, do you think it will wheellie with that gearing? Also I heared that if you put hard springs in the back and heavy oil, it won't wheellie, it that true.

Well I found out that the Neo One puts out 6500kv, so I decided to go with that instead of the SS5800, and I was wondering if this is a good motor. And how does it compare to the SS5800?
