Thanks for the info! Have you been to that track on Nellis blvd called Finishline Raceway? There's an off-road track there, as well as on-road. But i guy told me last week that they closed down the on-road track.???

Yes, I've been racing there at Finishline this past 2 weekends with my 8th scale buggy. They just removed the onroad track because of lack of interest. So now there is more parking for us offroaders. :)

If you want a piece of the racing action, seems like offroad is the place to be right now.

Someone posted this picture, preparing the Boulder City track for the big race this weekend. Now hows THAT for a jump! :)

And if you are familiar with the Sandy Valley track around 1.5 hours south of Vegas, I took this video footage of some nice racing action out there:

Thats Sweet! But its weird, since I live around that area, everytime I pass the track it seems like nobody's there. Is there track hours? Do you have to pay?
Whats the deal?

This site has the current schedule for the Boulder City track and the Sandy Valley track.

http://www.vegasrc.com/

Finishline is running races every Saturday at 2:00 pm. Gates usually open at 11. I know what you mean about nobody seeming to be around. If you don't know the schedule, it can be tough.

The people who run the tracks go to this board:

You'll have to register to get on and its going to seems VERY weird to navigate the forum, but once you get used to it, its not too bad. But if you want to know when the tracks are going to be open, that would be the place to go.

Planning on purchasing an offroad nitro in november or december. I heard that 1/8 are a popular choice among RC'ers, what about 1/10 scale. which one is more popular at the tracks. Any recommendations.

The 8th scale buggy is more popular at the track than 10th scale truck. Truggies are picking up in popularity though. And the tracks appear to be designed for 8th scale buggies and truggies too as far as jump placements. As for recommendations, Mugen MBX-5 and Kyosho MP777 appear to be the popular choices at the track from a performance standpoint. I am the lone OFNA Hyper 7 guy at the track, as they are much cheaper, and as durable as the other 8th scales. I'm happy with it and will stick with it for a while. I take pride in defeating expensive high performance buggies with my Hyper 7 RTR. :). And actually, lots of other racers had Hyper 7s to start off with and ended up buying their Mugens or Kyoshos later on. I've seen the XTM buggy too. I'm assuming that is cheap too, and it seemed to be durable as well. Not sure how good it drives. If you had racing in mind and I was forced to give an opinion on which to buy, I'd say a Mugen MBX-5. But if you are like me and some of the other and want to test the waters with something a bit more affordable, the Hyper 7 is a good deal.

Yea I'll definitely check out this new track when it opens. By the way I got my first nitro offroad. I love it! In the near future i'm either planning on converting a buggy into a truggy, or getting an already made truggy, or an MT.

Also,Is this true? I heard that (although its not for sure) the county is shutting down the track at the silverbowl. Is this really happening?
